Hi I'm new here, I have had three Toyota trucks. The first one was in 2004, my Wife surprised me with a 2001 Taco for Fathers Day, I loved my truck, as fate would have it in 2007 we sold our house and bought a 07 Montana Three slide 5th Wheel and the Trucks of course wouldn't pull it. Traded in for a 07 Dodge Diesel and then in 2016 settled down bought a 1986 Toyota Hilux only had 119,000 on it was in great shape for 33 yrs old. We just sold the 07 Montana and the 86 Toyota. With the proceeds I bought my now 2010 Access Cab Toyota Taco it has 97,000 miles on. I have started getting the accessories in the mail and look forward to messaging some of you and getting to know you. So this is the third Toyota Truck and each one has been very dependable. Looking forward to many miles behind the wheel of the latest one. I live on the Oregon Coast i

I do have a question, if I use 92 octane is the a significate rise in MPG ? I've only had the Taco for one tank of gas, on regular I got 21.88 GPM. Thanks

    Hey Randy...Welcome to TW.

Good Question....hope this helps! There are to many factors that will change the outcome of your MPG. Including air temperature, elevation, driving style, weight, tire pressure...
The graph above are the results of 91 octane gasoline on my Truck. I have heard from folks here on TW that the truck shows little or now difference in MPG but will claim the truck runs better on the higher octane gasoline. Some will say its not worth the extra expense....you pick.
I've chosen a higher octane because of improvements in my MPG but not just because of the gas I use....

Good Luck and Welcome to Tacoma World !

The gas stations where I live sell pure premium gasoline. If you go down to mid grade or regular, you are getting up to 10% ethyl alcohol, which is less efficient than pure gas. My small engines get premium, because it is pure, but I can't justify putting premium in the truck. Not enough improvement in mpg for the cost. And in the truck, the gas gets burned off fairly quickly, so it doesn't have time to degrade, like it might in the motorcycle or lawn mower.
