I'm a little concerned on the rust problem I have read about the kbvoodoo bed racks. They got a new powder coater but you never know. I just ordered a set but I am curious if it would be worth putting a coat of rust-oleum or fluid film on the rack to prevent it from happening? Has anyone done this for any of their bed racks?

My KB rack is only rusting where the crossbars have scraped off the paint on the mounts. Kind of unavoidable with the design

If you use your rack (I hope you do) then it’s gonna get banged up. Touch it up with some spray paint. It’s equipment, not the Mona Lisa.

    also, welcome.

Same here. Luckily I live in a desert. Other than this the bars and mounts are fine.

Yeah that's understandable. I saw a thread on here from 2018 where it was rusting pretty bad. I live in Michigan, lot's of salty roads.

I saw some of the rust posts and am not really concerned, I'm going to get one anyway. Figure I'll have skids and sliders I need to touch up so who cares if I need to touch up my bed rack.

Those people who complained...they remind me of this kid I knew who wouldn’t rail slide because he didn’t want to scratch up the bottom of his skateboard. Shake my head.

Uh, have you seen how shitty the powder coat they use is?

This is after 5 minutes installed on the truck. It came out of the plastic wrap like that.

Not the first time they have had issues. Reason why I will not buy from them

Oh yeah, I'm a lifelong skier and it's the same with some people...have to wait for the perfect conditions to use the new skis, god forbid they get a scratch on them. I'm a "they're tools, not jewels" kind of guy with most of my things. I try to take care of stuff the best I can but I buy things to use them for their intended purpose.

Also you can just touch it up. Paint on skids, sliders and racks is just a detail.
