2010 DRL/turns

Question for the retrofit gurus.
I’m going to attempt my first retrofit on my 2010 and I’m reading some things about how utilizing switchbacks in the housings as DRL/turns isn’t straight forward. Something about the turns running through relays etc..
Could someone who has done a retrofit and put in shrouds with switchback or halos utilized as drl/turns lend some info in this? I’d like to be prepared when I start putting these together instead of trying to figure it out as I go.

More like this. I’d like to have the factory DRL/turn but also have a halo or similar in the housing with switchback. Similar to those in this video, just not that red housing!
