If QDR is the same anywhere, why are more trucks being being made in Mexico when the vast majority were made here in the beginning. Price will not go down,

Here's a hot take... More folks in Mexico having reliable employment benefits Americans too.

Because Toyota is a business and businesses exist to make money. This isn't rocket surgery.

If it's cheaper to make product A in Mexico and maintain the same/higher sale price they'd be stupid not to do it. American capitalism baby

I just shopped for my 2020 Taco , sticker in the window said assembly in Baja Mexico.
Not scared a bit , same fit and finish.
Yamaha built my 2020 Sidewinder sled in Minnesota at Artic Cat , now that was bad , snapped driveshaft in 300 miles , motor mounts broke , parts on back order until July , season ruined.

People forget Toyota only moved pickup production to USA to avoid tariffs and levys in the first place. Guess those aren’t as big a deal anymore, and so be it. Global competition is a much better solution. “Let the best man win” IMHO.

This whole Buy American is so yesterday step in a Walmart Apple Store Nike or a Kroger Store and look at the Labels. Walmart sells crap made anywhere in the world with cheap Labor. Kroger buys tons of products from China Indonesia and Argentina and other places like Mexico and raises the prices weekly. The tire industry is not any better have you looked at your tires lately and lets not forget Prison Labor. Amazon barely pays any taxes and we buy like they going out of business. The whole system is set up to give the shareholders the biggest return possible and pay as little tax as possible. Long gone are the good old days.

"Buy American" was a propaganda ploy by the Big 3 because their Planned Obsolescence couldn't compete with Asian and Euro quality and efficiency.

I don’t like the attitude some have here. That they don’t care as long as x and x.

Tesla is eyeing Texas property for the Cybertruck assembly plant. I think it would be a great political move and the increased tax revenue may convince those in power to allow Tesla to sell directly to TX residents. The state is a HUGE market for full sized truck sales and they love USA built pickups. Texans purchase one out of every six full size trucks sold in the US.

I am curious. I have a Texas built model and was very impressed when I looked underneath and saw the extent of quality control marks throughout the suspension and drivetrain. Are the Mexican models marked similarly?

Something most of us do is get estimates for any work we are paying for. If John bids $1000 to build you a fence and Jon bids $750 using the same product to produce it which do you choose?

I would assume that the QC department at each factory was trained in the same way to produce a bulletproof product. There is a reason Toyota cars are a lot of times considered to be boring or conservative. It's because they care about the details of making a product that will last. Toyota doesn't take chances. Their halo car the Supra is basically a BMW.

If you're buying a RAV4, will you only buy the one made in USA, not Japan???

This is the thing. RAV4s have always been made in Japan or Canada, and only the 2020 hybrid model is made here. With losing Tacoma, there is the feeling of disappointment because Tacoma’s were designed and first assembled here.

    - ICON UCAs, BP51/Kings, SCS wheels, 285s, Leer 100XR canopy. Greenlane aluminum winch bumper, Smittybilt X20 winch. Trying Falken AT3w now, Really like BF KO2s.
In the end who ever has the factory in their backyard wins, thats a lot of stable income for the community and all the businesses in the area wins.
I'd love it if they built in my hometown, more money for everyone!
