B:C style, typically found labeled as "auto/marine" and the ones you find in the big box stores are often white instead of red. Ones sold by places like Summit and Jegs can be had in red, black, chrome, etc. Halon is better but the environazis have made them expensive. An under hood fire suppression system is an even better choice as it deploys without opening the hood (feeding the fire more oxygen); some have automatic deployment systems, some you manually deploy. Get the largest you can fit and learn how to use it properly. Note that with a small extinguisher, if you do not extinguish the fire very quickly you probably aren't going to be able to.

There was a good thread on this on ExPo a while back.

ETA- Look in your local phone book and find fire extinguisher sales and service places and then go by there and tell them what you're looking for. They should have used/serviced units that are reasonably priced. If you're on a really tight budget, grab a couple of the largest sized bottles that Home Depot/Lowe's sells and save for a better version in the future. Five #s doesn't really last long and most of the bottles in the big stores are less than that; a pair of smaller bottles may be easier to store than one large bottle. A good bottle will have a metal handle/valve assembly while the inexpensive big box store versions are usually non-serviceable, non-refillable plastic heads.
