Understand that! I've been playing with Japanese recipes lately.. tho I did make some wicked good spicy Thai noodles the other night.
There's tons of stuff out there that's not processed.

I’m gonna be super honest here. I’m not a good cook at all...
I always had my mom or girlfriends or wife and even daughters make pretty much everything. But now that my daughter is gone and my other half got a job putting her home 1.5 hours later then me I need to start learning... I get the basics of cooking. Right now my biggest problems are not drying out food trying to get it to come together all at the same time.

Timing is THE thing.. between this thread and the ones below.. there are a TON of ideas/recipes. Yes.. it will take a while to get through them... But pick something and try it.. then pick something else and keep on keeping on.

I've worked in catering/banquet halls. Cooked most of my life and still find that time to time I can make some crappy food. :)

I think along with what you say it's a lot of be patient, try new things and don't get discouraged when something doesn't come out right.

I find cooking to be very satisfying not just in the fact it fills my belly but I really enjoy watching people eat the stuff I make. When I cook/smoke/grill whatever and people start eat and the only sounds you hear are knives/forks/chewing and you see on their faces they really enjoy it that makes me very happy.

    Practice and confidence. Tools. Workspace.

I have cooked since I was a kid, had some training and some classes. (yeah I know I never heard of that stewed roast a few weeks back...)............

Anyway here is something interesting, we had a stock spec Formica countertop kitchen of smallish, but somewhat workable size. Both the wife and I hated cooking in that kitchen. We are going to sell and move in a couple years and needed to renew the joint. So we remodeled the kitchen, made the island longer, new logical cabinets, got a new 5 burner cooktop, quartz counters, etc.........deep stainless underside sink...........well shit, my prepping and cook times really really sped up, I can go fast, stuff is in smart locations. It's all a bit personal, but like an athlete you need to envision success. ALL the steps. And practice.

You will learn how long something takes so you can start items at the right time so they finish close......

We LOVE using ours for wings. 400degrees for about 25 minutes, flipping half way through. Also start putting on the sauce before the wings are done so the flavor cooks in.

Tried my hand at Bang Bang Shrimp in the air fryer. Did half in corn meal and half in corn starch. Spritz both with some spray oil. Corn meal turned out better but could have used more oil. Probably should have just deep fried them. But lack of messy oil sure is nice.

    Just because I could...

I took a gallon Ziploc bag and put some chicken nuggets and tater tots inside of it and then poured some Frank's buffalo sauce in it and shook it all up to coat them.

I set the air fryer to 400° Fahrenheit and let them all go for about 14 minutes while shaking a couple of times. It basically bakes the Frank's into the tots and nuggets.

I like the idea of doing the tots and the nuggets at the same time.

We were at the market last week and I was looking in the frozen appetizers section and one of them had a new product out, I think it had tot's nuggets and mac n cheese bites all in one bag. You cooked them all at one time. I almost bought it.

Anyone try plugging their air fryer in the truck bed?
