Disconnect battery before swapping grill w/TPS?

The thread title says it all. Wondering if I should be concerned about damaging the TPS sensor if I don't disconnect the battery. If the truck is off, the TPS should be off as well, no?

If you're worried about it, disconnect the ground, it's a ten second deal.

Did mine and didn’t disconnect Battery, been 10,000miles now with 0 issue.

 

I don't disconnect the battery on lots of things. I rebel.

 

Yeah i left the battery connected when i took out the grille to paint the bezel, all good no issues

I have it on good authority it ended well. ^^

 

I've installed an aftermarket grille w/ sensor, headlights (oem wire harness) and some other smaller internal things and I've kept the battery connected when doing those. Some people do recommend disconnecting the battery when replacing the grille because of a warning that says something along the lines of "Sensor has been disconnected, visit your local dealer" even when its connected, but I've never had that issue.

 

Still so happy he took a pic instead of freaking out and trying to put it out straight away.

 

Done. Took it for a quick ride after and experienced no issues, at least so far.

I swapped the 2019 SR5 Chrome grill for the 2019 TRD black mesh grill and used the original sensor.
