Oil life reset

    I bought a used 2010 tacoma and my question is if i change the oil before the maintenance required light comes on am i able to reset it so it knows that i changed the oil

    Since it's used the book may not be with the truck any longer... Last I looked this was a Tacoma forum to ask questions...

    His question is NOT “How to reset the Light”

    I know how to reset if the light is on. I am asking if i change the oil before the light is on will the truck reset from the milage I changed the oul?

    Yes, but you will need to preform the same procedure as resetting the light. This resets the mileage also.

    That’s a bit different of a question. The light (and the mileage countdown) only resets manually. Changing the oil does not reset the light or the mileage countdown automatically. Following the procedure in post #2 resets the process regardless.

    Sorry for the misunderstanding. I thought it was obvious. I change my oil every 10k miles and just reset it when comes on after the first 5000.
