How difficult to sell my Taco w/ out title in hand in Maryland - private sale?

Assuming that I just won’t get the value of my mods on a trade in.

Talk with the bank you have it financed through they can walk you through it. Last time I sold a car I had the buyer meet me at the bank, he gave me the money, I had the bank transfer the payoff to Toyota financial. Toyota sent the title to the buyer/ his bank.

If you can’t get the title, sell the parts and return it to stock and then trade it in if you must.

You likely won’t get the value of the mods back in the aftermarket either.
They might even decrease the value.
    Unfortunately.

When I buy private sale I only hand over cash when I get a clear title in hand. I’m not going to take a chance on a seller flaking out or misrepresenting. Now, for yours I’ll give $500, take the wheels and let you keep the title. I’m guessing you will decline..

Comical response. You clearly didn’t understand the question - but - appreciate the equally nonsensical response.

Where is the title? Does the bank have it? If they do then you will have to pay it off first.

It’s extremely easy. You post for sale and the buyer is responsible handle the rest for the most part. I purchased a vehicle private party while it was still financed through Nissan. Went to the bank and they wrote me two checks. One check to the finance company and one to the seller for the remainder of sale price. The only thing they needed to know was exact payoff and some documentation from finance company which the seller provided and that was the only work the seller had to do.

Now if someone is paying cash, they’ll likely not want to purchase by just handing you lets say 20k and hope you’ll give them the title after you payoff the truck.

If I make a move - I’ll pitch the wheels and trade her in

    Appreciate the responses! Thanks!

Both are Stock - built correct from the start.
Once your bank/credit union receives the payoff, they will issue a "Promise of Title". This can happen over email, fax, text, etc. This is where it gets interesting. You will get this. It will be in your name. The hard copy of title will take a couple weeks. You'll have to wait on this to "sign over". When I last did it, I took a 10% deposit for the sale price of my rv trailer, I paid the payoff with a funds transfer from one of my accounts. Immediately, I received the Promise of Title, which I printed and annotated as a Bill of Sale. No idea if this would stand in court. But made buyer feel better. He though it would. Once I got the hard copy it was exchanged along with the cash back into my account.
If you do this at your bank it's basically the same. You'll still not have a hard copy of the title. They just don't hold all collateral in the banks "back room". It just may make you buyer more up to it.
