I finally got around to installing my Auto Meter oil pressure gauge and decided to help anyone interested in doing the same. You're going to need a few extra parts that dont come with the gauge, they are a brass T and nipple (i got mine from home depot) I have the 2.7L so the factory oil pressure sending unit is located on the passenger side of the motor about 6 inches in front of the oil filter. First unscrew the factory unit and screw it into the T and screw the T into the block, then screw the sending unit into the empty hole of the T. I cut out the lower cover under the left center air vent where the 4WD switch would be. Run a wire about 16 gauge from the auto meter sending unit from the kit to the gauge spot labeled "S" the run another to either the battery directly or another 12v source and one last wire to the ground point right behind the air vent and you're all done. i know the pictures aren't great and it may not be the best write up but its a pretty easy install. i hope someone can find this helpful

i believe the location for the 4.0 is up on the front of the motor near the oil filter

Not to ask a dumb question, but is this an electric or mechanical oil pressure sender? Since you only have the one wire coming out of the sender, I would assume electrical. :)notsure:) Also, what parts did you use from Auto Meter?
    Thanks

Nice install there. For those that don't want to tap into the oil lines, look into an oil filter sandwich plate. I've been running one on my truck for 3 years now and no leaks.

Not to ask a dumb question, but is the oil sensor location the same for a 2002 first Gen Taco w/ 2.7 Ltr?? I was thinking of getting GlowShift White Elite 10 Color Oil Pressure Gauge GS-EWT04 with Autometer 2-1/16" single pod on "A" pillar Product # 15415.
    Thanks in advance.

To be able to watch your oil pressure... no oil pressure usually means good bye engine if not caught quickly and if your lucky it could be as simple as a new oil pump. If not it’s time for a rebuild.

Low oil pressure is obviously no bueno.
By the time the idiot light comes on its to late.
That being said, I'm more prone to go with a mechanical gauge than an electric. Just gotta be careful not to kink or break the hose.
