Has anybody used this stuff in our transmissions? I on my second routine lube change on my rig which has 250K on it. Used Valvoline GL4 75-90. Shifting could be better especially 1st to 2nd when cold.

    Ford MT-M5-QS Gear lube

It gets great reviews (Amazon) and I have seen 2nd gen comments that mention is is better than Redline MT90, the much talked about gear lube on this forum. I have read we need to make sure we use the right stuff for our syncros, (brass?) so I want to make sure what I use won't harm anything because I am keeping this truck forever.

I ordered Redline MT 90. Fingers crossed it is as good as the rating say it is. Maybe the comment I saw about the Ford stuff being better was just a one-off situation.

Put the Redline MT 90 in last weekend. What a difference! My 1 to 2 shifts are much smoother now and downshifts to 4 from 5, 4 to 3 are much easier too. I can now attest to personal experience this is good stuff for our manual transmissions.

I've gone from Redline (been running it for over ten years) to Amsoil 75-90. I've noticed with Redline after about 10-12k miles shifting gets considerably worse for me. And below freezing 1st grinds the first few shifts. Amsoil helps 1st in the cold. Im still out on longevity. Got around 8k on it atm.

I’ve had the same issue with Redline MT90. I’m unimpressed.

Thanks for the heads up. I'll see how it goes and post back any changes as time goes on. Easy enough to change lube if I decide to do so.

I still have the Redline. I haven't dumped it yet because it's only got 30,000 miles on it and it's so damn expensive. Of course now that this thread made me think about it again, I'm re-annoyed and I want to change it right away. I'll probably switch to Royal Purple. I used to have a 2nd gen 4.0L with the notoriously finicky 6 speed that even a lot of manual transmission snobs didn't like. I put Royal Purple GL-4 in it and within a couple hundred miles it started shifting more like a normal Aisin manual gearbox. I really liked how the Royal Purple oil performed.
