Advice on picking a car for a 16yo...

    I started with a Jeep Wrangler, so I don't blame him for wanting to go that direction. It has the coolness factor that is needed for the high school auto scene, lol. A Subaru Forester or Outback would be a good choice. As would a 4Runner. Something practical, safe and reliable.

    Thanks for the replies guys! My neighbor is selling a lexus ct200h im going to check out this week. Gas and insurance do play a factor and im sure he will realize it once he starts filling up.

    Also did locate a few older outbacks I've been looking at as well. Already got him a part time bus boy gig at my buddies restaurant so least he'll earn his keep a bit.

    I got my first car at 18, but neither of our kids, now in their mid and late 20’s, got cars until they were 24 and done with college. They both like cars, were good drivers starting at age 16, but had no need and no budget. And we did help both of them out when they were good and ready, but not before. Just an alternative suggestion. But can’t go wrong with a Corolla or Taco.

    Toyota Bed divider
    have raised four children, two girls, and twin boys, for what I call a " kid car " for us it has been Toyota Corolla, The girls like the "Corolla S " with sunroof I bought two. They have plenty of zip and good MPG
    the boys started out with Corolla LE's worked for us.
