How to close the tailgate while standing in the bed?

    I'm trying to figure out how I can easily raise/close the tailgate while I am standing in the bed, instead of having to get down on my knees and pull it up while I am in the bed.

    I would think something as easy as tying a piece of rope to the tailgate would work, and then just pull on the rope, but I can't find anywhere to attach the rope.

    Any ideas?

    Drill a hole, but make sure you don't go through and hit internals, or outside cover. Also use some fender washers, to keep from pulling him through.

    My specific purpose requires me to close the tailgate while I am standing in the bed near the cab.

    I am loading something bulky onto the bed, then using the corners of the bed to wedge it to stop it from falling over. Hence, I need to close the gate while standing in the bed, or the item I am holding will fall over.

    Some buy an aftermarket metal tailgate cover (inside) maybe put an add in classified, and find a second hand OEM. Or buy the aftermarket.

    Sounds like someone is loading a dead body in the bed by themselves....you need some solid friends.

    But you attach 550 cord to the sides of the tailgate and pull....while you are holding the dead body.

    Rig a pulley system along the inside of the bed. Run the cord/cable to the back where you can reach it. Give it a pull and up comes the tailgate.

    Remove one of the tailgate screws and add a D-ring with a rope attached?
