Probably the mounting depth as I'm a 15 and just checked says it won't fit mine either

Interesting. They were recommended in the a 3rd gen thread so I was thinking maybe I don't have 6x9's in my truck.

Well crap. Now I need to find a different set of recommended speakers then. I know close to nothing about speakers.

Well there you go, I generally always go by what fitment they say. But apparently it can be done.

Aftermarket speakers for Tacomas need a speaker adapter inorder to fit properly. The stock 6x9s have a dinky magnet and maybe there isn't room for the huge magnet in the Crutchfields. Check out this video for 2005-2015 Tacoma front speaker install. Maybe message the guy for help. Good luck.

    Definitely need the brackets.

mad far as recommending them, it’s all personal taste. The CS tweeters are too bright for my ears, but it certainly makes them seem louder with less power.
I personally would look at 6x9 component sets so you can replace your stock tweeter as well

I was going to do the Subaru Kicker tweeters.

What about these? They are a lot cheaper.

I have an aftermarket Car Play Pioneer head unit already.

EDIT: I just ordered the Rockford Fosgates as they were still decent and half of the price.

look for component speakers if you are trying to replace them. they will sound much better. But you also need to pay attention to the power they need. Your stock Head Unit is not pushing very much power so if you get the wrong speakers they wont get very loud... I have 6x9s in my 2013.

The Subaru tweeters are Kicker KS (silk dome) and the CS you are looking at are titanium dome tweeters, so be prepared for your highs to clash.

    I'm with Zac
You should have equal or close headunit output power to get good sound from your Rockford speakers. I'm thinking you may need an amp to increase your output for better sound quality.

Anything is better than the stock speakers.

    My opinion

With a three way front speaker and Subaru tweeters you may not get the best highs. Possible for the tweeters to cancel one another out.

While you have your doors apart you may want to consider some sound deading.
