I'm still thinking bout plasti-dipping my roof so it's removable easily when I get the funds or decide to repaint the truck; since the clear coat is worse by the day.

But IMO people go way overboard with the plasti dip.

What was the tldr of what happened???

I need to find the top part of the stock bumper thats painted the body color. Mines got rock chips and clear coat peeling so Id like to just buy one to have repainted instead of having to leave my truck at a body shop for a few days.

Is that sold separately from the bumper assembly? I guess if you remove the lower valence your left with just that part

Its the plastic piece on top that clips to the chrome crash bar.

The trucks gonna go to a body shop once I get my tax refund anyways. Ive got a small maybe playing card sized spot on the roof where the clear is starting to bubble up. Gonna get that fixed before it spreads any further. I refuse to let this paint look like the 92's did. The camper shell needs painted too, but thats not priority 1 right now.

This piece. I ordered it and never did anything with it. Aftermarket but its decent quality. Probably cheaper on fleabay.

Yep, a superpoo(Subaru) could handle chicken corners just fine. At least it could 10 years ago. Beautiful run though. Man I'm itching bad to go on a trip. Southern Utah is amazing, I know I'm a broken record.
Sooooo, are you wanting to run every part of your trip west solo, or??? :boink::D
I know I seem hella opinionated in here but I'm a chill cool cat in real life.
Maybe not super 'cool' per se but chill is a better word:rofl:

I would not be a happy camper if I went through hella prep work and had expectations that plasti-dip would last like powder coat.
It's a cheap inexpensive temporary fix to anything. Not meant to be a long term solution. But if it lasts for you, sweet, you got lucky. Still doesn't mean it's a permanent solution.
Edit: not 'you' as in you Blue92, you in general

    I'd just dump it.

I dumped the oem bumper the day I put the ARB on, not to mention the sway bar and end links. Same for the crash bar and all.

I kept the factory tie down and tow hook cause I thought I saw someone ask for it before.

The tow hook looks slightly twisted? Maybe it was like that already or maybe when I got that yank

OEM bumpers in good shape can sell for a decent bit. The problem is finding someone that wants one.

the front bumper I gave away to that one guy that made a thread the other day in the 1st gen section asking if anyone had a bumper lying around, turns out I did lol.

The crash bar and sway bar stuff I'll probably toss

Mine would've cleaned up well and I probably could have sold it if I wanted to but...I really wanted it gone and the guy that was interested in it had a 2000 Tacoma, I knew it wouldn't fit without some creativity and didn't want to charge him for something that might not work out right. He ended up making it work though, said it sticks out further than his 2000 bumper did but looks good still

Also the lower valence was pretty beat up from dragging on rocks haha. Front turn signal lens was smashed

Cool, I didn't wanna just interject my thoughts or opinions on places if you already had it all planned out. Don't hesitate to ask about the different runs or spots you read about either. And I'm not a hardcore crawler at all. So if I say you or the taco will be okay to do a certain run, I say it under the presumption that you have little to none experience on slick rock. Slick rock provides EXCELLENT traction.... Until it's wet, lol. That's where the name came from.
I kinda prided myself in being able to complete obstacles and trails without breaking stuff. No gunning it unnecessarily and all that stuff.
Only one broken Birfield in all the prolly 30+ times I've wheeled down there. And of course it was when it started drizzling.... And of course it was on slickrock... And of course the ex was driving and had the steering cranked all the way to one side(weakest position for CV axles, birfield axle is same) One Birfield I've blown, that's it:cool:
A glimpse into why I'm so staunchly a Toyota guy :D
I'm excited for you man. It'll be a blast
