Even lasting 10 mins on battery charge that’s more than enough time to start recording what’s happening during the night/parked to get some details of what happened.

Someone hitting your truck and fleeing the scene won’t take long nor someone trying to break in. 10 mins should be sufficient time unless you have multiple instances in one night... if that’s the case you may consider moving lol.

Exactly. The bump and run turns the camera on, but I like having the before video as well.

It came with a 32gb, but I am getting a 128gb tomorrow. Supposedly the 256gb won't work with the camera, but I find that hard to believe? If I start consistently running out of space with the 128gb I'll buy and possibly return a 256gb. What size is your memory card?

I guess its just me being neurotic. Definitely moving though once my lease is up. Honestly its part of the reason I bought the camera to begin with...

I had the same dilemma, ended up tapping into the window fuse (not constant). One day I’m gonna have both of my cameras hooked up to its own battery and hook up that battery to the alternator or regular car battery so I can leave them on all the time. If the battery drains all the way, I can still start the truck and the dead battery can charge.

You could always run this in series with any power supply

    https://www.nitecorestore.com/F4-Four-Slot-Power-Bank-and-Battery-Charger-p/chg-nite-f4.htm

Will charge and passthrough current. Maybe if you left your truck parked for like a month straight it might die, but I can't imagine a little camera taking that much power.

Edit: Oh I didn't math that at all right haha. Assuming the camera takes something like 500ma to run. If you stuck in 4x 3000mah batteries, it would be able to power it solely off the batteries for 24 hours give or take.

Memory card size is dependent on the firmware of the camera. If the company says their camera can’t handle a 256gb, I wouldn’t waste any time trying to get one that big to work.

Weird thing is the company says anything over 32gb won't work. The 128gb I got today is working fine. It was just the Amazon reviews that said not to go higher than 128.

32gb makes some sense, it's the biggest you can get in SDHC before having to use SDXC. But apparently some SDHX cards work, I would guess it would be a crap shoot as to which ones do, I would wager it would depend on if it's SDXC-UHS, SDXC-UHS-II, or SDXC "video speed". If I had to blindly guess, I would guess sdcx-uhs are the supported ones.

That’s sounds like a plus to me! I would definitely run the camera and card as much as possible during any return windows to see if you have any failures. Also check the videos frequently for missing segments and/or corrupted files.

Better than I could ever hope to explain it! And your blind guess was spot on!

The recommended minimum for a lot of these cameras are the “High-Endurance/High-Performance SDXC-UHS-1 Class 10”

Yeah it says only class 10 cards are supported. So thats what I managed to find, but there is a 256gb option for the class 10 card I bought. But I'll keep checking the footage constantly to make sure everything is up to snuff. Though with the 128gb I just put in, it says it can do 8hours of recordings before it loops over......

Sounds like the camera is limiting the card. My last cam had a 1080p front and 720p rear and could record more than 24 hours on a 128gb

What camera were you running? The one I bought is kind of cheap. Only $70.

    Previous was a Rexing V1LG ($170) with a Lexar 128gb.

I do not recommend current Rexing cameras

Yeah, I just went on Amazon and searched, https://www.amazon.com/s?k=sdxc+class+10&ref=nb_sb_noss_1 most of the results come up as UHS-I . I would suspect those to be the working cards. Looks like there's some lexar UHS-II ones as well, I would guess they will not work, despite being "class 10". In quotes because uhs-ii cannot be class 10.
