2017 Entune w/ jbl- new amp connected to factory amp

Upgrading my sound system. Keeping my HU. Keeping Factory amp. Removed factory subwoofer. Installed new tweeters and door speakers so far.
Behind the rear seat is my factory amp. From there I tapped the remote wire for the new amp. Now for a signal feed I decided to use the front left and right speaker wires coming out of the factory amp running to the speaker level inputs. Anyone have any better recommendations? Should I use a loc or is speaker level inputs just as good?
Also, I looked everywhere for a wiring diagram for the harnesses at the factory amp? Had to do some guess work on finding the remote wire and pos/negs.

 

With the JBL system there are a few options, because the amp has internal crossovers. This means the tweeters only get highs, the doors only get mids, and the sub only gets bass.
So if you’re wanting to add in new speakers that get full range, you either need a device like the PAC AmpPro that creates true full-signal preouts, or a device like the AudioControl LC7i that can do signal summing (combine the lows/mids/highs all into one channel)

the AmpPro is the best solution, hands down.
The LC7i is a god alternative but requires more work and wiring.

Is there any I can tap in before the amp with an LC7i(which is what I have) or. Eventually, I would like to get rid of the JBL amp but I'm taking baby steps. first step is adding an amp for the door speakers that I just installed.

 

No tapping in before the amp, without adding an AmpPro or similar

 

Looks like I'll have to keep the OEM amp. So JBL AMP->LC7i->DSP->AMP->Speakers. Now.. what if I used an amp that had hi level inputs? Like

D4.800 or D6.1200 would be THE amps to use. Can take high level from the JBL amp, and also have the DSP built in. That would eliminate the LC7i and the DSP from the flow above

 

I got signal from tapping into stock sub terminals then those to go an loc from Walmart (outputs in rca) then to aftermarket amp. Also been looking for wiring diagram to get a pre amp signal...

 

Not going to get a pre-amp signal. The audio from the head unit to the amp is non-variable voltage (does go up and down with volume) and all the volume levels are done digitally in the amp itself. Same with all EQ’s, crossovers, fade/balance, etc.

 

Well that just complicates things, should have gotten non jbl... that paper sub is garbage. Turned bass up on head unit but it just makes for rattle.

 

Dustin is right. Best option is to get the lc7i. Grab the signals from behind the back seat at the factory amp. I combined the fronts, rears, and sub output to the lc7i. Then added my amp. There is also something available to install behind the head unit. After that you’ll also have good output. But the sub wires alone won’t do crap.

 

Anyone have wiring schematics for the JBL amp? I have an LC7i and looking to add an amp for the doors. I know they have a pig tail for it.. but I find 50 bucks is overpriced imo. I’d rather make one myself.

 

It’s a wiring nightmare if you don’t know exactly what you’re doing. I have the same jbl system. 50 bucks is cheap compared to what I went through trying to wire it. My advice, buy the pigtail. Then use those wires for your lc7i. You could be done in an hour.

 

I’m more than capable and have all the tools needed. I just need the speaker outputs, mainly just the front tweeter and front doors and I’ll use the LC7i line summing capability to produce a full range signal. Keeping the rear speakers on the stock amp since I’m pulling for a front sound stage.

I went with a 5 channel amp. I pulled the signal from the factory amp for the lc7i. Lc7i feeds the 800 watt 5 channel amp. The amp outputs go right back into my factory wiring. It’s 14 gauge. No need to run new. Hope that helps.

 

You guys seem to know what you are doing should make a video about it.

 

I DMd you. Thanks a bunch. I got the LC7i for pretty much half off. I have a Kicker CXA600.1 from my previous vehicle that’ll I’ll use for the subs and I’m looking for a decent amp to drive my front stage. Nothing fancy just a Infinity REF coaxials. We’ll see how it goes. Somewhere down the line I’d like to try a 3 way component system but that’s way out of my budget for now.

 

I pu coaxial in the front door, amped, and absolutely hated it. Infinity too. So I removed them and swapped with infinity 6x9 component. Couldn’t be happier. Deep sound. Before you re-install the switch boards for the window controls, stuff some foam pieces in there. They’ll stay quiet.
