Awesome thanks! Idk how I didn't find that. The plug might be to plug into this system to read? Not sure.

that would make sense. I guess you'd need a laptop with a serial plug. Maybe thats why they updated it to a LC-2 with a newer plug? I didnt really read into what plug came with the LC-2

Yup that's exactly what I am thinking. An older version (LC-1) of that LC-2.

Make sure that the sc does not need a rebuild- that it is making boost while on the throttle.

Also, is it a black faced or white faced boost gauge?

Nice, mine came with a black face too, took the sc off cause no boost. :( Currently waiting on funding for a rebuild ;)

With the better airflow and what I've heard, driving one supercharged like a grandma can get better mpg than n/a. Besides, keep it on for when you want it, doesn't hurt the engine very much, especially if you take it easy.

You WILL get better mileage or equal to OE NA configuration if you drive it like a grandma.

I get equal to OE fuel economy in my 2nd gen boosted turd, and I drive it like a dickhead who stole it all day long. Redline pulls and constantly in boost.

I also saw no change in fuel economy until I really had my foot in it (coming back from Oregon once, with Idaho's 80MPH speed limit and a head wind, I saw some pretty bad MPG's...13-14 if I remember right). For my usual loop to town, though, I consistently saw 21MPG (rolling 285s, 3"lift and steel bumpers), way better and with way more power than my new-to-me 2nd Gen Taco.

Look in to rebuilding yourself. There's tons of info here on TW. I famously got my charger for $500 off a 4Runner that had 350k boosted miles on it. I spent $150 on a bearing rebuild kit, lucked out that the rotors were in good shape and bolted it on. I spent a few more $$ on fuel mods (injectors, fuel pump, etc) and was listening to that 'charger song for around $1k. I wish I could find that same deal on a 1GR-FE charger!

I have a 2nd gen "black" supercharger. This is my 2nd 1st gen Tacoma, comparing the two I would say it is not worth taking the supercharger off. The difference in HP makes a really big difference and your MPG's don't change as drastically as you would imagine. Also for the resale value, it makes more sense to keep it on regardless of what you are planning to do with the truck.

Can't it needs a minor boring out and rear bearings, it was making 0 boost. :( So off it will go for a full for 1k. At that point iI will not worry about it at all. Also dont know if it was ever rebuilt, 200k miles and original to the truck lol. Original pulley and boost gauge too.

I bought it the day I posted in here. Been driving it and I like it but I don't think it's my cup of tea. I also found a 4cyl I really would like to buy instead so I will probably post this bad boy for sale this week.

I drive slow. Doesn't ever even kick in for me so I would be better off saving money by getting a 4 cylinder. I just want a slow, regular cab and needs body work so I can off road it and not worry about it. This truck is way too nice for me, way more power than I need and someone else can enjoy this more than me.

Doesn’t make sense to me, this truck would probably out live all the miles you could possibly drive.
    It has too much power?
The power only comes on when you get boost and that’s usually higher up in the rpms range so you can drive it like a grandma.

Well if you want a beat up truck that will need lots of repairs there are no shortage of those available then.

You have a gem there, it will out live you if you take care of it. Keep it and don’t try to over Analyze the situation unless you were just trying to buy the truck to make a quick dollar bill And getting feedback for what you could resell it for.

When I first got my truck in 2016 it was on a Toyota lot with 24k miles and bone stock except with the TRD supercharger and headers installed by the previous owner. The Toyota ad didn't even mention the supercharger, I found out when I opened the hood lol.
I nearly did the same thing almost, tried to negotiate with them to remove it and put it back tob stock because I didn't want the hassle of owning a supercharged vehicle or the higher fuel cost at first.

Initially they agreed to return it to stock and I signed the paperwork...a week later they called me and told me they would either negate the contact or give me another $2k off the price if I took it as is. Didn't say why but I assume they ran into issues finding new intake manifold parts and they couldn't install used parts for liability reasons.

Anyway I've had the truck now over 3 years and I won't lie...the supercharger has been a headache for me at times but it's mostly thanks to the PO not setting it up right. When they're set up right they work as intended and you shouldn't run into any issues especially if you don't drive it like you stole it all the time.

I say keep it, I've learned a ton about these trucks being on here that has helped me workout any issues I've run into and its fun having a Tacoma that is different than most on the road

I don't think you are understanding me. You don't have to tell me about Toyotas lasting a long time. I know they do. I have only owed a Tacoma/Pickup since I was 16. This just isn't what I want. It's more than what I need. It's more money than I should have spent. It's bigger than I want. It has more power than I want. Just because it isn't what you or someone else would want doesn't make my needs wrong. The truck is awesome, just not for me.

I do agree having something different would be fun but just for what I need it for it's not worth the extra cash I had to put out to get it. I could get a regular cab 4cyl for a lot cheaper that I could do a lot of mods to. This I really wouldn't be able to. But it is sweet! I have driven it around town a lot and it is fun.
