I've owned 2017 Tundra TRD PRO for the last 3 years. Its been an awesome truck, but with 3 more years of expensive payments, I'm test driving a 2019 Tacoma TRD PRO that was the owner's wife's demo. I've got 3 main reasons for wanting to trade.....1. Lower payment, 2. Smaller foot print and 3. Better gas mileage. I know the MPGs won't be a lot better....

While the Tundra has more HP, To me, the Taco has a sportier feeling drive to me. I have a rear entry garage and the Tundra has been a major PITA to park. I had to sell all of my lawn equipment to get it in the garage so the rodents would quit eating the wires. The Taco is MUCH easier to park and I don't have to bother folding the passenger side mirror in. Probably the best quality so far.

Another thing I like, is the Taco has a much nicer stereo and electronics.

I haven't completely made up my mind, which is the reason for joining this forum.

How many of you have downsized from the Tundra to the Tacoma? Did you regret the move?

    Welcome to TW..

I had a Tundra and loved it!! 275,000 miles and great truck.

I went for the Tacoma TRD Pro this round for many of the same reasons as you listed. I don’t regret my decision at all.

I will say the Tundra felt more solid but not enough to change my decision.

Went back to a Tacoma for the size and responsiveness. Tundra was an 18, had a lot of power and a big gas tank, which I appreciate, but no regrets. Been in the 20 Tacoma for about three months and 3,500 miles.

Pulled the trigger on the Tacoma TRD PRO tonight. They added a Bakflip bedcover and darker window tint. Walked out with a $155 cheaper car payment with a 90K bumper-bumper warranty. I don't normally fall for the extended warranty crap, but it only upped the payment by 20 bucks.

Some might say white is boring. But with all of the black badging and blacked out windows/wheels, I think it looks great. Plus I live in Texas. White is better in the heat.

Funny you say that. When I was buying my truck, my son asked me what color I was getting, when I said white his response was “white is boring” hahaha. I’ve always been a fan of white tho. Plus I live in Texas as well, so white was the right choice for me.

So here is a two month update.

I haven't missed the size, MPGs or hassle of parking the Tundra yet.

The Tacoma has a sportier drive around the city. It's much easier to park. I'm getting 4 MPG better than I was with the Tundra with the same style of driving. I enjoy the better electronics package over my 2017 Tundra. The only aggravation is the black trim on the roof gets blown off every time I take it through a car was.

Hello, welcome to Tacomaworld. Nice looking truck. Love that color. Should be a nice change coming from the Tundra. I test drove a few and decided on the Tacoma as well.
