You’re both wrong. The DPT at my gym says to do some exorcist neck bending to look at the ceiling.

Tough topic. But I agree with the POV that no natural born male should compete against "born women"

It's just not fair. Just naturally growing up as a dude gives you advantages that stay even after transitioning and suppressing. Women would be forced out or would have to juice like crazy. Or that one woman now had to take suppressants, etc.

Anyways, love to all the trans ppl. But can't rob Peter to pay Paul, IMHO.

High bar back squats and front squats transfer over to most strongman events extremely well. I’m a fan

I did front squats for the first time yesterday, it felt weird for me. it was really good at forcing me to keep my upper body upright though. I even was trying to get the bar int he proper position by doing hands-free front squats. The front/top of my shoulders are feeling a little tender today though. guess I will just get used to it. edit: spec'ing the front squat weight was harder, i took the 80% of squat weight calc but wasnt able to get it. I did 3 reps then racked the weight because I was a bit too out of control. I went down 10lbs and was able to get two more tough sets of 5 and finish it out. *with the reg park plan the first set is 60% of full weight, the second is 80% full weight, 3rd 4th & 5th sets are full weight

I was also able to spec the proper weight for my first 3 sets of 5 reps of deadlift (SL5x5 only does 1 set of 5 reps DL). I spec'd a good weight where it was hard for me but I was still able to complete them.

Looking into getting some microplates though for minute increases in lifting weight where I do not have to jump 5lb minimum. you guys got any microplate recs?

I love front squats, but not having done them in a while my wrist mobility has gone to shit.

I just ordered some this morning on Amazon, Micro gainz :bananadead: I heard them recommended on the barbell logic podcast. The gym I workout at has 2.5 plates so I have to do 5lb jumps minimum, I got the 1.25 plates so I can do 2.5 jumps on some of the lifts.

    https://www.amazon.com/Fractional-2...=1&keywords=1.25+plates&qid=1581445812&sr=8-2

I haven't used them yet so take that for what its worth.

Saw the video of my surgery today. 5 sutures to secure the lateral meniscus.
Normally the meniscus should move 5mm, mine moved over 1cm. I was told I’m fortunate this was not much more serious. Most people would have much more damage. the meniscus would have gone into the joint space and torn (or they would have a dislocated knee). But because I have great joint strength it minimized the damage.

    4x10 quad raises
    4x10 leg lifts
1x10 heel slides in PT this morning.

You guys keep doin your skwats and deads. It protects those knee joints.

To put this in perspective, if my meniscus had torn the way many peoples would have I’m 28 so I may be looking at a total knee replacement around 45 at my activity level. Joints only last 15 years if you are lucky.
Because I had enough joint strength to take pressure off the joint, my meniscus itself went untorn. If these sutures hold forever I’m at no risk of a future knee replacement.

A body in motion, stays in motion. Stay fit and stay active.

Sounds like my regular doctor a few years ago. I'd cut almost 100 pounds to get to 195..I'm 5 foot 10. Not a word about how much I lost or that I'd since been able to come off the cholesterol meds and my number was amazing, plus my blood sugar and pressure were that of someone who was 20 and never smoked versus 41 and still smoking. Got some speech about I'm still borderline obese and need to drop another 30 or so. I did mention part of it is I lift now and "well muscle doesn't weigh THAT much".

OK, I've always been a little fat and I'll never have a 6 pack or whatever..age and overall history are two of the things against me there. But goddamn, I was 315 or so in my 20s sucking down soda all day and night plus eating a bar pizza and having 20 beers for dinner almost every night, I'm not too upset if I have a little jello.

I finally slowed down and actually looked at myself in the mirror tonight, I can see where I’m tightening up. The coolest part to me though is I have enough pectoral muscle under the B cups (I assume) that I can see it twitch if I concentrate just right, still working on controlling muscles individually, let alone muscles that I only had subconsciously.

How big is the strongman scene in AK? I got a job offer a few months ago in Fairbanks and I thought about actively seeking something there in the future. Always wanted to live there.

Three strongman comps up here last year. Two USPA and a few USAPL meets as well. I am located in FAI, best gym I’ve ever been to here, look up Northside Athletics on FB or IG, check it out. Multiple people go to Nats every year a few ladies that made it to world class level from here. We had an 800lb squatter that just moved away. Decent place.

As far as Fairbanks itself, if you like night life and shit to do in town you won’t find it here. I stay pretty solitaire, go between work, gym, store and a trapline. If you can get an ATV for the summer and snowmachine in the winter you will have endless shit to do.. camping and fishing in the summer.
