I hauled the borrowed DR 350 on three trips. The carrier was excellent. Planning out the loading, getting the straps set up esp on my own, and keeping the bike happy for a long drive were the biggest challenges.

I wanted to grab a section of 1 5/8 bar to reinforce the tube, but that didn't get done before the trip. The worst that I saw was some wavy, soft road bases that did slightly loosen the straps on the first two runs. No issues, just learning and completely different than trailer loading.

The carrier did a great job and another person bought the same rack to haul his new WR250R on the back of his full size with a slide out camper. We definitely traded notes and ideas. His plan is to head down the coast with it.

After my first drive, I enlarged the rear hook slots for my higher rated straps:


Fun was had with some excellent camping. The Softopper was a perfect tent while hauling enough wood for 2.5days of group camping. I want this bike. It will be hard to return it to the gracious owner.

Have any of you guys ordered online from HF? My closest store is about 45 mins away.

I’m looking at getting the 2 gallon Fortress quiet air comp and for $6.99 in shipping It’s more cost-effective than driving to the store.

what I’m wondering is how long does it take for items to ship?

 

I just ordered a welding mask and rec’d it in 3 days. Was as fast as prime, would buy from again +1

 

I used to think HF sold junk. Last year I bought a breaker bar, because how hard is it to fuck up a breaker bar? No issues with that so far.

Last week I picked up their 3" woodchipper for less than 500 bucks. That little overpowered bastard screams. Feed it a decent sized branch and it wants to pull you in with it.

 

Most of the stuff at HF is not worth buying. Some things are. Some are the same thing HD rebrands as Husky. Their 370 Lumen rechargeable work light for $17 on coupon recently turned out to be an epic purchase.

Also their air compressor hose parts are cheap vs. anywhere else, and their $1 paint brushes are not bad considering they are not worth having to clean.

The $59 drill press is crap, but I use it almost as much as the $9 angle grinder and $99 auto feed arc welder

 

I love the warning label.

How I read the label:

“Add small branches then gradually increase diameter of branch.
If machine locks up, branch was too big.”

Working backwards from large to small is more fun though.



And just what is the classification for Leaves and Brush?

 

I’ve ordered online and wouldn’t do it again. It look over a week to process and get the order ready to ship. When I posted my issues, several others chimed in that HF is known for this.

 

It, um, has a separate orifice for branches.

You're not doing your research then. I had their floor bandsaw for several years. I still have their lathe. It works great. Their F-clamps can't be beat for the price.
