I didn't know Toyota made a dash cam, could you provide more information?

Do any of you guys who have done research into dash cameras know if there's a unit out there that records its own front facing as well as rear facing that is stock on the truck from a video spitter? I have an aftermarket rearview camera installed on my truck that i use for back-up and rearview through my head-unit. THe camera is powered on through with ignition.

I think I might go this route if I ever pick out a dash cam. Seems like the cleanest solution with adjustability.

Might have to get a front/rear dash cam, then splice. Don't know if it will stay on or cut out when you activate the reverse.
or just get a all in one where front/rear is built into the unit. Would see the bed and from inside the cab.
    Just ideas.

I think it will be unique, and I hope it works. But I won't know for sure until the parts arrive in the next few days.

Attaching a clamp around the mirror leg is a great way to get your mirror to fall off and take a chunk of the windshield with it.

Happened to a buddy of mine. They're really not meant to support much more weight than a standard rearview.

Ram mount makes this as well. goes between the windshield and the mirror. I wouldn't attach anything else to the mirror button if it was stock.
    https://www.rammount.com/part/RAP-B-369AU

However, there was a fellow on here from years ago who made and sold RearView mirror risers. I used one of his risers with some 3M tape to increase the load capacity. That and the Ram mount might be an option.
but you're still running the risk of it pulling the button from the windshield

Edit, I will add that i have tried to Epoxied the button to the glass. I wouldn't suggest this as then you're counting on the glass being the weakest point. After doing so the glass failed and broke off about a 3" diameter section including the button.

Where is the GoPro mount in your 2018? I have a 2019 but don't see one anywhere. I got the dmm with GoPro mount for that reason, lol

I have a 2017, but I've read on TacomaWorld that the 2019's and up no longer have the GoPro mount.

Wanted a clean and simple way without stickers or suction cup. Back to brainstorming.

Hmm. looks like the passenger side on the windshield kinda behind the rear view mirror from the driver seat. pretty sure I don't have that.

Yes, that's the location, but as somebody else here stated, believe that phased it out for the 19, and possibly the 18 as well.

Maybe I could source out just this buckle mount and find some type of clear adhesive.
