And then this one was a present from my cousin’s mother-in-law of all people when I graduated from community college; She found it online and I am still not entirely sure how she did...

    Look closely...

    It’s a central air-conditioner!

I have 3 different key sets, 1 for the truck, 1 for the car, and 1 for the house/garage.

I've never been to Europe before, and after a 1-year hiatus my mom's side of the family has decided to have the annual family reunion in Ireland. The two most obvious must-sees for me are the Guinness factory and the Blarney stone (I will not kiss it); The trip will in be in late July-early August, and will last about two weeks; Has anybody been to Ireland, and if so, where do you recommend I go?

Another goal of mine is to devote at least one entire day to barhopping!

P.S. My dad generally rents from National, and I've just discovered that National rents what appear to be stick shift Land Cruiser Prados in Ireland; Currently pestering my dad to rent something that falls into the following three categories...

    • Manual Transmission
    • 4-wheel drive
    • Toyota pickup or SUV!

My uncle has begun sanding down the wheel skins, but he’s been super busy so he hasn’t had the time to do much else on them...

    @shakerhood

My cousin, who has been to Ireland before, talked me out of renting a vehicle with a manual transmission; She said the roads in Ireland are particularly tricky and unpredictable for someone who's never driven there before.

Probably a good idea to stick with her advice.

Nope. Just some touch up paint. It isn’t even worth taking it in to the body shop

I do not think I have ever been this excited about missing the Carlisle Truck Nationals! I have only missed the Carlisle Truck Nationals twice since 2012 (the first year I went). I was unable to go in 2013 because my dad was going to a wedding, I was still a fairly new driver at the time, and my parents did not want me driving all the way to Carlisle on my own. In 2014, I went with my dad again...

In 2015, I found out that my Grandma's funeral would be the weekend of the Truck Nationals. Grandma died in January 2015 and we had her cremated as per her wishes; She wanted to be buried next to my Grandpa in the cemetery of a church in Connecticut. The whole family couldn't get together until the summer, so I talked my dad into going to the Carlisle GM Nationals in June instead...

2016 was the first year I went to Carlisle all by myself. I woke up at the crack of dawn on Saturday and drove out there, then left right before sunset and drove back home. I had a hard time keeping myself awake during the drive home, and swore to myself that I would never try to do the Truck Nationals in one day ever again!

2017 was the first year I spent the entire weekend there, and also the first time I stayed at a hotel by myself! 2017 was also the year that I met @Taco critter and his wife!

So yeah, I will be missing the Carlisle Truck Nationals for the first time in about five years because my family is going to Ireland! Because I absolutely MUST get a Carlisle trip in this year, I will probably settle for the GM Nationals in June, like I did in 2015. Since I obviously will not be showing my truck, I see no point in spending the whole weekend and have not decided if I will spend even one night; If I spend the night, it will likely be from Friday into Saturday, and then I will leave on Saturday evening. By Sunday, most people have left and it is only the awards ceremony.

Does anyone think I should talk my dad into letting me borrow his Yukon for the weekend and enter that in the show as a stock SUV? It is a GMC, after all...

I am going to Ireland from late July through early August, and my truck will be sitting unused for about two weeks; The battery was installed in late 2014 if I remember correctly and has a 6-year service life. My truck is a daily driver and probably gets driven at least 5 out of every 7 days; Should I worry about coming home to a dead battery?

No you’ll be fine. I leave my vehicles for a few weeks at a time a few times a year and have never come back to a dead battery.
