Yep, OP isn't the first to pull a "Halp!" and surely won't be the last.

For anybody who doesn't get the reference, here's the most infamous "accidentally drained my tranny fluid" TW thread on the subject. Always good for a few laughs...

Ok so heres where we stand. I put in 2.5 qrts. with no issues, very straightforward once you can reach the fill plug and get the hose in there.

Was able to fill up two empty quart bottles with the old drained atf and still had a bit of the drained stuff looked like maybe another few ounces but I decided to pump another 1/2 quart to be safe.

Just hand threaded on the fill plug. I think I will wait about an hr and then turn the truck on and cycle through the gears a few times. Planning to do the level check as well today hopefully while still light out.

    Thoughts?

Appreciate all the advice and humor!

I’d just put a Rough Country 6” lift on it and call it a day.

In all seriousness, shit happens. Replace the plug, open the fill plug and add just a tad under 3 quarts, or whatever you took out. Good to go and it’s a mistake you’ll never make again.

At least you got the trans service out of the way. 3qts isn’t the whole capacity but it’s something, plus you know it’s filled correctly.
