LED Strips to go on and off with dome lights

Hi there! I spent my whole weekend trying to find the ground wire that gives the fade in/fade out behavior to the dome lights, however I never found it.
I've been reading a lot of posts related to this, and seems that I have to find a blue or yellow wire under the driver's side A pillar, but I don't see any.

I have a 2016 SR5 taco.
I even used a multimeter trying to find continuity of the ground contact of the center dome light, no luck with that either.


If someone knows something or how to find that ground wire, please I'd be eternally grateful if you give me some advice!

No need for that DSIM module. You get the effect you asked and cheaper results by adding a (micro)relay to your leds strip and tapping the wire to the bed light switch, pin 9 (purple).
SR has the connector with no switch, if it's the cheapest incarnation SR...



The purple will turn the relay ON & OFF after the set time. It won't keep the relay ON while the vehicle is ON, unless the doors are kept open or you add a switch.

 

You could get the mating connector for the "unused" Cargo Light Switch.
Terminals to tap the wire without cutting them...

When you say the bed light switch, you refer to the 3 position switch that's to the left of the steering wheel?

My only concern is that if I splice to that purple cable the led strip won't have that fade in fade out effect, am I wrong?

I want to install LED strips that light up my running boards whenever I open a door or unlock my truck with the remote, and shut down when closing a door or locking the car with the remote, all this with the same fade in and fade out effect of the dome lights.

My original plan was to run a fused hot line from the battery directly to the led strips, and splice the negative to the ground wire of the dome lights, in order to give the led strips the desired fade in/fade out effect.

But as I said before, I couldn't find that ground wire, I have surfed many forums and posts looking for the right information with no luck.

If you have the Bed light in your SR:
Place the Bed light switch on DOOR.
Close the door and go look at the cab light.
Unlock with the FOB...wait a bit, then lock with FOB.
If the effect of that light is to your satisfaction, the added LED bar will do the same.

There's usually a lot of information regarding these subjects in english, which is why I am doing it in spanish.
