Sadly not much fabricating or anything really.

Instead its been changing out the bearings in the fan motor thingy for my septic system.....and being annoyed at companies while doing it for the amount they want to charge just for parts. Luckily it just needs two bearings and the seal replaced so easy to source them elsewhere

Its just an Aerator thingy thats part of the system. Just blows air pretty much. So its plenty clean outside of grass lol.

And ~$40 bucks in parts is a hell of a lot better then the 500-600 for a new unit.

A few little projects for people over the last week or so, nothing too crazy. Installed some newer chevy seats into an 86 pickup, had to adjust all the mounts and seat rails so that they sat low enough so that your head doesn’t hit the roof. Also installed a quick disconnect hub and mpi wheel, the weld on splines version A471C201-4607-4067-ABB7-50327F0E1981.jpg D86DFC78-3293-4762-A834-B40C16C850A5.jpg A35E3A6A-D7E0-4BDC-B7D3-33A0C5F0A5A5.jpg C7694A7D-7EB6-41E3-B9B1-2EB5DFC87BFD.jpg 01D2AF1A-5340-467F-B638-209B2CE465B1.jpg

Anyone ever weld a receiver to or through the crash bar for light duty stuff?

It's aluminum. It's weak. It's only bolted to thin metal. You can't pull on it, you'd just rip it off.

The emphasis was on light duty, like 1k, certainly not truck weight since I don't get off road. I thought it was bolted to the frame ends.

It's bolted to thin metal at the frame ends. People who have mounted plate bumpers to the same spot without any extra reinforcement have bent those thin plates with light pulls.

I expect so which is why I'm stipulating light duty non truck weight, not more than front axle weight really. I can lift 100 lbs if I've had my wheaties but not 1000 and it would be nice to have hoist ability at either end.

I'm with @teamhypoxia, on this. I think it would bend
with the crash bar being Aluminum, you would need an aluminum receiver.
not sure I've ever seen one, do you have a link?

No, i just assumed one would use square stock to make it or if the right size wasn't available make it from two pieces of right angle plus a wrap and I'm sure it would bend if I tried to pull more than 1k or didn't reinforce it some. So far it seems the only use anyone considers is for moving the truck rather than using the truck as the anchor to move something lighter. I've seen aluminum extension ladders coupled with a portable hoist to raise loads and those are much thinner than the crush bar.

Why not make a receiver hitch to attach to the 2 tie down Tow hook location not that hard and stronger

I can’t imagine that perforated 1 x 2 is stronger than the crush bar.

Just figured I could post some welds and get some criticism. Don’t have 220v yet, but this is the highest setting on 115. Overall goal is to SAS on my Tacoma. Thanks.
