Hey guys. I've finally got my project truck on the road after almost 2 years of building and it has a really sketch amount of body roll on corners. Coming out of the corner and the truck does not level back off on its own, I need to wiggle the wheel back and forth to flatten it out. When heading down the road and making minor steering corrections it sways side to side similar to a boat. back story is I got the truck as a roller with a trail gear sas already installed and a rear 4 link on 12" ori shocks. The truck came with 4"hd springs and I traded them off for some 3" trail gear springs. The 3" springs came with a leaf removed from the previous owner. I have a vw 1.9 turbo diesel in it that weighs roughly 300lbs, im also running a big steel bumper and a winch.

I feel like the sway and lean is coming from the front end. Could that missing leaf be contributing factor? would the missing leaf cause it to stay leaning after a corner or is that more attributed to a rear 4 link setup? I'm moving this weekend so I wont get a chance to throw the leaf back in or crank the pressure in the oris to test. Is a sway bar worthwhile with this setup? most of the sas posts threads ive found on google say swaybars aren't really necessary with the light weight of the truck? I scaled in around 4100lbs on the weekend. my gf is scared of my truck and doesn't want to ride in it lol. how do I get this thing to not feel like a complete death trap?

post your concerns and photo of the truck with details of the spring/shock setup on Pirate4x4.
Not a lot of SAS on Tacomaworld but its starting to have some people taking the plunge...

Thanks I'll have a look there.

I know almost nothing about link geometry but the video I watched on YouTube that goes over the basics about link length and seperation for tire size looked like it matched my setup fairly well. My oris are Inboarded which I'm sure doesn't help but I really feel like it's the front end doing it.

Disclaimer, I know jack shit about ORIs, saying that I would re do the mounting of those to push them as close to the tire as possible. I doubt it's the front end, putting a leaf back in will just make it taller and ride worse. With it being leafs you shouldn't need a trac bar or a sway bar.

Yeah Air shocks usually have a lot of stiction, and with a 15/12 stack they won't settle level in low damper speed scenarios like cornering; especially if the bleeds are covered in the valve stack.

What shocks do you have up front?

Depending on the bushing setup all around, you might have a lot of friction there too, which will prevent a fully neutral settle.

That said, a tall SFA truck will not corner well at all, ever.

I cranked the lower chambers to 170psi and the truck handles way better. It still leans on corners but it's predictable and not super sketchy anymore. The seals are also starting to break in and it's not sticking on an angle as bad anymore. I may end up moving them outside the frame to run lower pressures but for now its definitely not a death trap.

Up front is trail gear 3" springs with bilsteins shocks.

Blew the turbo trucks back in the garage getting a motor upgrade. I'll probably notch the frame and outboard the shocks and go from there. If I need to I'll play with the front link mounts
