Did anyone on here ever shipped their truck on a train cross country?

I am going again this year from Detroit to Colorado for summer vacation with my truck camping and offroading. Now my idea was to just put the truck and all gear in it on a train and send it over in advance to Denver and then just take a plane when Vacation starts.
Main reason is to not waste precious vacation time on driving for days on boring interstates and of course to put less wear on the truck.

    Main questions are:
How high the cost involved is and if it is actually worth it?
In case you did it already, would you do it again?
How much time does it take from drop off to pick up?

Highway driving is easy on vehicles. Your engine lubes better and the smooth road surface is easy on your vehicle suspension and frame.

You will probably pay less in gas driving it, than by paying to have the truck delivered by Train hundreds of miles.

I think you'll have better luck in your searching if you look into shipping via an intermodal container that goes on a train. They do ship vehicles by train, but its new ones and lots of them, railroads don't usually have the desire to deal with the public on that kind of stuff.

    What about shipping by truck?

Doesn't matter whatever is better cost wise. When I had the idea for first time I thought at around 600usd it will be worth it, but I guess that's way too low. Read somewhere an estimate at around 0.78c/mile ...so this will be out of the worth it spectrum.
