So recently found an issue with my rear suspension.

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/shock-leaking-not-normal-obviously.652508/

Currently have 5100 in the rear on TSB springs along with a 1.5” AAL and 1” block. Since I plan on fixing the issue, might as well upgrade and do it right.

Was thinking of upgrading to the OME DAKAR HD paired with Bilstein B110 shocks. Trying to get as much lift as possible, 99% of the time my bed is empty. I know I need to extend the brake lines, anything else that has to be done to run this set up?

Anyone with any experience with this set up? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Trying to do things right the 2nd time around lol. Also plan on getting rid of the stock springs and replace them with TOYTEC 3” lift coils along with my 5100 set at 0 and top plate spacers for the full 3” lift.

Do you guys recommend a different set of leafs for an empty bed, trying to get as much lift possible. :) ALL PRO?

If you have no weight in the rear get mediums. Or just get the HDS and remove a leaf from them

How much lift should I expect if I were to use the HD’s, don’t care about ride quality...I’ve been driving on AAL and a block for awhile lol.

Well I have mediums ATM when I first out them on I had 2.75 inches of lift. But with all my weight it went down about an inch. But I have the ome aal coming to solve that issue.

I had the hd ones and they squeaked like a dead duck. Embarrassing had to rip them off. Hated them.

If you dont care about ride quality and just want max lift, why not just replace the shock and keep your block and aal? Doesnt sound like its $$ well spent on OME Dakars. You wont need longer brake lines either

Don't get dakar's, they have a major design flaw for our vehicle. The second leaf from the top rubs the shackle and over time grinds the metal down.

I've had the for a year and am looking to get rid of mine so deavers or the icon rxt pack

Strange. I have Dakars (CS047R) and 5100s and I definitely don't rub the shackle w/ the dakars. Was just under there today. I know I've seen that they may catch on an early version of hammer hangers, but I believe that design was updated to eliminate that problem. Although cutting a bit of the 2nd spring can guarantee that.

Anyway, Shouldn't need anything else OP. Maybe some axle shims or a diff drop. But nothing needed to run that setup in the rear.

I'm referring to the newest version of dakar's and oem shackles, not archive hammer hangers

Would the B110 fit? Truth is, I don’t off-road, tow or haul anything in my bed, very rare that I do.

What about the 5125’s instead? TOYTEC 1.5-2” lift with a 1” block on TSB leafs or even the TOYTEC BOSS shock.

I have hd Dakars and 5125's.

I have a bed cap, platform/ drawers and carry maybe 150lbs of crap on top of that.

They squeak and the whole setup is pretty stiff, but it all works great for my purpose.

If you want Dakars I would not get the HD pack based on your usage.

All this being said if I were to do it all over I would get a custom pack from somewhere else, but I am still pretty happy with what I have.

What did you replace the Dakars with? Were you able to find leaf springs that don't squeak?

I had a toytec cheapo lift and it did not last a winter before rusting and leaks after 3 years. Regardless of your intentions don't cheap out.

If you’re not loaded down most of the time I’d advise against the HDs. I had them and was stiff AF swapped a local guy for his mediums and life has been way smoother. Of course I upgraded shocks as well but the b110s will fit I’d also get some ext brake lines cause they are flexy.

Have the HDs with a bed cap and I pull a trailer often - Toytec Boss 2.5 rear shocks. Rear ride and articulation is great.

Squeaks are awful even after multiple greases and attempts to quiet. I’m considering changing springs just due to the awful noise.

Why not go with a company like deaver or alcan and gave a custom leaf pack built that will fit your needs better than something off the shelf?

I had HD daks and moved to deaver stage III U402's. Much happier and zero squeaks.
