What Have You Done To Your 2nd Gen Tacoma Today?

Hauled the Singlespeed to the trails for a Monday shred.

 

Added trail toys fuel tank skid plate today. More of a pain in the ass than I anticipated, but it’s on there!

Debadged a week ago, cleaned off the black plastidip from the wheels and re-dipped them brass monkey bronze to try a bit of color offset. Bought a knockoff pro grill. Dipped the Toyota brass monkey as well. Finished up by cleaning all the salt grime off it today in prep for more rain/snow.

 

Raptor lined the bed. I did it too late in the day and the condensation at night discolored it.

I still need to do the fenders so I will respray when I get time to do those.

How do these compare to a steel/aluminum skid plate? Is this designed more to prevent sliding punctures than direct hit crush/breaks of the tank?

 

The tanks on our truck are pretty damn hard to hit. This is more than adequate, weighs 8 lbs and you don’t need the studded tank straps. I know a couple guys that really wheel their shit hard, and run this plate and love it. I had a steel skid for about a year and only lightly hit it, so this will be fine.

with our tanks being a flexible plastic, they’re going to be hard enough to puncture as it is.

Dont want to start a but I have a 2015 with 45K miles and have about 50% orig fluid and 50% amsoil synthetic, and there is a large overall difference in performance.....dont want to hear Amsoil this or that ...........just saying I think the Syn makes a big difference..

Took advantage of having the day off with no rain today and rode through Tuskegee National Forest. Also, went on a hike at Chewacla State Park.

 

Thats exactly what I was wondering, Seen a few people do steel plates since I joined tacomaworld just wondered if it was that big of an issue for steel vs something like this. Thats awesome to get coverage with minimal weight and cost!

Replaced core support bushings with energy poly ones. My 3yo son helped but mainly he just stressed me out because of all my tools he was getting into and with the street nearby.

 

If you start to hear a squeak, it’s the top washer. I initially put one there and the metal on metal contact made it squeak so I took it out.
