My son and I went to tuttle creek yesterday and had a fun time.
We stayed away from the shore where the mud is bad (thanks for the warning!).

No scratches on the truck, but reciever hitch shovelled some mud :)
I'm very impressed with how capable the stock TRD Off-Road is. There were several places where I expected it to struggle a bit getting through, and it basically just cruised right through it.

We couldn't find the easy trails to get to the southwest part of the park. We went south down the main road as far as the start of Corkscrew, going a ways down several small trails off the main road. The paths we saw beyond that area looked very steep, so we weren't sure which one to take.

And we also went west from the staging area until we ran into stuff we couldn't do (again, going a ways down some trails in that area).
We also couldn't find Horseshoe creek. We must have drove past it several times. There are several trails in that area that are very steep and narrow that we didn't want to go down.

There were a few kids on dirt bikes, and as we were leaving a group was unloading a side by side. But most of the time we didn't see anyone.

We're on the edge of Wichita, so it was around 2.5 hour drive to get there, and we spent almost 3 hours there.

I let my (16 y/o) son drive some. Sliding around a bit is a good addition to his driving experience (I've taken him and his sister out to drive in snow for practice).

    Thanks for the input guys!

Glad it went well! I've always wanted to go to Tuttle Creek myself. My Tacoma is completely stock, aside from some RCI skid plates. I've been to KS Rocks, and found out that the truck is very capable, but also limited in some parts of the trails. I wonder if Tuttle Creek should wait for bigger tires and sliders, or not.

I've never been to Tuttle myself either. Heard it's muddy as hell, and never had a chance to really with the way things go for us. DP isn't quite stock, but I've done a few things to it.....

There's plenty you can do stock.
The maps were helpful. We couldn't identify much stuff, but it gave us a good idea of where we should be avoiding, and where we should trying to go.

With how far away it is, we won't go often. But we will go back.
