Had the front U-joint go out on the highway and the driveshaft smacked the piss out of the actuator rendering it useless. I was hoping it’d be the only thing I’d have to replace but the shifting rod appears to be able to spin almost all the way around when I twist it, I think I remember reading something somewhere about that being a problem inside the transfer case but I can’t seem to find anything about it right now. Replaced the driveshaft and the truck drives fine (in 2wd with the 4wd dash lights flashing) when everything is plugged in to the actuator but I’ve been afraid of turning it on and moving around with that rod exposed. Does anyone know if the moveable rod is a sign of a problem with the t-case or if I’d be just fine replacing the actuator and housing? There were only a couple forums I could find that were actually about the t-case actuator and not the differential actuator. A new t-case and actuator is gonna cost many many coins and I’d rather not pay more than I need to.

It’s definitely not the best situation but I bet if we had 1 piece shafts it probably would’ve been a lot worse.

I think that’s just for the outer case right? I’m pretty sure the internal bits are the expensive part lol.

    No that's everything.

You should honestly have no problem picking up a used case under $500 with the actuator and similar mileage to your truck. Check LKQ. They can probably get one from anywhere in the country in a few days relatively close to you.
