    Hello all,

I have been reading all the info on doing a 2nd gen Prerunner to 4x4 conversion and I have started to collect parts to do it myself. I had a few questions though, that I could not figure out with all the write-ups that some folks have provided.

I am pretty sure I will be going with an auto FJ transfer case; what I am not sure about is what front diff to go with. I was planning on using a front diff from a V8 4Runner (AWD). I understand that there will be parasitic loss with the front diff and axles always "engaged" with no power being sent to them. Plus I would rather not deal with the ADD switch.

    My questions are:

If you combine the AWD front diff with the FJ transfer case, will there be any issue with binding when it is switched into 4Hi? Would there be binding when the tranfer case is in 2Hi?

Is there any template on modifying the Prerunner's transmission cross member support?

Would it be cheaper to get the Y-Pipe modded or could I just buy a new 4x4 Y-pipe?

Does the FJ TC shift lever have to be cut and reshaped to fit through the coin holder?

    Thanks,

    JT
