I have a 2020 with the oem LED head lights. They are exceptional for nighttime driving, best head lights I've ever had on a vehicle. They have saved me from hitting dear multiple times when driving back from the boundary waters. However, I have been noticing oncoming cars flashing their brights at me as if I have my brights on, when they aren't on. Anyone else experiencing this?

This has made me start noticing just how bright other vehicle head lights are when they are running LEDs. Many of them seem too bright for low beams.

Happens to me with my Mini Cooper S with the LEDs. Even being that low, I still get flashed at. Just flash back! Bright as can be for headlights. Only reason I waited for a 2020 Tacoma. The LEDs are a new must for me after having them on the Mini.

My last truck (full size) and my 2020 Tacoma both had / have LEDs. Getting high beamed from opposing drivers is something that happens, you just have to get use to it. One thing I will say though is with the auto high beam feature on the Tacoma, oncoming vehicles see me toggle down so they don’t seem to beam me as much. That feature does however take away my ability to beam them back. :(

Are you carrying significant weight in the back? New design headlights with a sharp cutoff can seem too bright if they're not aimed properly. The only way that would be the case on a new truck is with significant weight in back.

I have about 200 lbs of sand in the back for winter driving so I don't think that would cause it. I was also getting flashed before I put the sand bags in the bed. I generally flash em back to show them the high beams.

LEDs are very bright, even if they're OEM. Stock honda civics with OEM headlights seem like they have high beams on too, when they're just lowbeams. Nothing you can really do.

I’ve never had a problem with my lights being too bright (getting flashed) with oem LEDs. If you’re getting flashed with oem LEDs, then you need to aim them lower. Your cutoff should be below on-coming traffic. It’s not just how it is. You can correct it.

I haven't had anyone flashing their brights at my yet in my 2020. I use the automatic high beams feature about 95% of the time with the exception of very dark scenarios where I want full control of the brights.

Has not happened to me yet in about 2,000 miles of driving. Kind of surprising, but the headlight beam has a distinct cut off for the vertical light dispersion. Do you haul anything in your bed or drive over steep hills of any kind often?

EDIT: I see your comments about the sand.

I get people flashing me for my stock halogen lights on low beam. Some people are just never happy.

Getting flashed doesn't necessarily mean anything, but it might mean your headlight alignment is too high. These new LED's for the Tacoma are harder to aim than the old projectors as their cutoff is quite a bit softer but it's still there. Since virtually no shops or dealers have the appropriate beamsetter type of aiming tools, really the best you can do is check to make sure the aim is 2-3" down from level at 25 feet. You can also tell on certain types of roads - especially like a narrow alleyway - whether the cutoff is level, slightly up or slightly down. It should be very slightly down and never be up. Some cars will flash you no matter what and there's nothing you can do about low slung sports cars. I never flash anyone when driving my 911. I just learn to look somewhere else for that brief moment.

You can't really tell much about any other car running LED's other than the fact they are LED. Too many are illegal and unsafe LED drop-ins in headlights not designed for them blinding everyone out there. The legal LED units from the factory from Toyota, Honda, Accura, Subaru, etc. are generally aimed fairly well from the factory and are only an issue from our Tacomas when coming up under them on the other side of a hill.

Has anyone used them in winter and do the headlights melt the snow or ice on them?
