Re-gear or not?

i currently have 265/75/R16 destination M/T's with a 3" lift on my 2.7L prerunner...in a few months im planning on going with either the same size A/T tire or a 33" and narrower A/T Tire...If i go with the 33" tire, would i need to do any re-gearing? i dont plan on doing too much serious off roading but i do pull an 18ft aluminum boat quite often but its not more than 1200lbs or so...currently with the M/Ts the truck is a little sluggish but i have had those on for about 3 years now so im pretty use to it

 

Going by what I've read on here, re-gearing definitely would help. 33's would make you a little bit more sluggish, but going narrower would probably help with that to some extent.

The pro's will correct me if I'm wrong...

 

judging by what ur saying in this thread and the other one about your mileage, since you dont go very fast and very short commutes you might increase your city MPG by regearing!

 

What was your stock tire size? 265/70/16? If you went up to 265/75/16 then it's about a 1" difference in diameter. I don't know if I'd go through the expense of regearing for that. There's another guy on here, Matic, who has the same truck as you (2.7L Prerunner DC). You might want to check out his setup and see what he's running.
