Any particular reason you picked that particular one over any of the others?

Please don't buy critical recovery gear from a place that sells books and games. Buy from a reputable off-road specialist.

I've never heard of any of those brands, and you have no real assurance it's not a counterfit, or just some cheap chineasium brand.

There is a reason most other synthetic winch ropes are in the $300 range, and these Amazon ones are in the $100 range. Think about it.

If you've been running a steel cable, you need to replace your drum, too. All those scratches from the steel cable with F up your synth line.

This crap from Harbor Freight cost more than those ropes.

Well for Chinese crap, it seems like a good product. Will see, didn't get it installed this weekend, maybe next weekend. Then a good test one day, hopefully it doesn't break and then send me flying down some cliff of death. Will let you know or maybe not. Might end up like this again.

I dunno, changing the winch line isn't gonna improve the problems on that truck. I'm going out on a limb here and say that's totaled.:bananadead::taco:

New driver side front tire, and he's good to go. Alignment wouldn't hurt either.

I installed and tested it with no problems. Should work until it breaks sending me off a cliff in a rolling ball of fire.

I ordered this X-bull line on Amazon today. https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B074Z6KR78?th=1&psc=1&language=en_US . I know it's cheap. I'm hoping it's a good buy for moderate offroad use. It was on sale for $84.90. says it's rated at 23,809 lbs but some reviews say it's probably more like 17,000 lbs rated. I know it's a risk to buy these cheap lines but I rarely use my winch and I have it mounted to a cradle which sits in my truck bed most of the time protected from the elements. What do you guys think?

So the Superwinch, Warn, Crosby, MaxTrax, etc. sold on Amazon are no good?

And the drum doesnt need to be replaced as the synth line has a protector sheath that goes between it and the drum

    What?

First of all, I was specifically referring to the generic "brand" synth rope the OP had linked to. Buy an actual name brand like Warn is definitely a step up, but I would still suggest buying this kind of stuff from a reputable dealer, as it is not unheard of to get counterfeit stuff from Amazon, especially for specialty products that Amazon doesn't know what they are or how to track them.

As for the drum, it's entirely based on how damaged the drum is. Maybe I should have said "should replace" rather than "need to replace"...

I've read multiple articles that suggest to replace it if/when the steel cable has damaged the drum, which would damage the synth cable, even with a sheath. I guess you could carefully file/sand down any burrs or metal slivers as an alternative, but that sheath won't protect the synth line long term from metal slivers. For me, it's not worth the risk.

Yeah, saw that, but wasn't even going to argue with anyone about it. I have used mine twice to pull trees out of the ground. Works great.
