Is this friend, I dont want to do this, or I want to make some side cash pricing? All very different numbers.

Have wheeled with him and talked a bit. Want to do the job just not sure what that kinda work goes for. Will be side money but same sense trying to make something out of my side hustle

Thinking 8-10k. To link front and rear. One tons and 40s or 42s for labor

Rate comes down to what you're able and willing to do. If your dropping off fully assembled and ready to go axle, I would assume 6-8k for linking F&R. If the builder is doing everything, my guesstimate would be 10+.

Let someone knowledgable do the link setup and not your average Joe Blow.

I would use whatever your current job pays you for your time to do anything and multiple off that. Example: the dudes cool and you make 20 per hour doing whatever at your current job, I would do a x1.5 your current pay. If they look like they will be a PITA down the road I would charge hourly plus x4.

I'm going through this now for non offroad related side work/eventual primary income.

Take my advice with a grain of salt, I refuse to work on anyone's rig unless my names on the title or if we are out wheeling and you break.

Gears and building the axles are no issue. It’s more of a quote depending on if he can find someone to do it. I know in my setup I have 14k in it and still need drive shafts and rear shocks. Can’t count my labor on mine so hard to say. I know some people on here have paid a shop to do the work so figured I’d see what the going rate is.

I'm about here too. I'll help a buddy in the garage over some drinks but once money gets involved, feelings get hurt real quick if something doesn't go right.

It depends who you're doing it for too. A friend that understands your level of fab skill is a whole lot different than somebody that expects pro level work and speed at half the price.

Anyone have a D44 outer stub shaft handy to measure? I am curious about the length of the splined portion. I could not get RCV/Moser/Dutchman on the phone earlier when I tried calling around.

I broke this custom chromo shaft and am wondering if the splined section was too long and contributed to the failure; shouldn’t the splines go just past the drive slug so the slug is pinched between the solid part of the shaft and the snap ring?

You can see the splines on the other shaft are already twisted and on the way to failure.

Has anybody ordered from RockSolidToys before? 4 month wait time on a suspension kit? Sound correct to anybody?

It depends on the link kit variation and axle build. I started with a prebuilt diamond housing for $1000 on Craigslist, came with FJ80 95 diff, and outers. Bought a Yukon zip locker for it along with master install and 4.88 gears, Marlin rebuilt kit for the outers as well. addition RCV axles (custom axle size, so I had to) and the SLEE Hi-Steer arms for a burly double sheer set up. If you go all brand new you could easily be into it for 5-6 grand on just the axle prebuild from Front Range (Toyota specific). If you go to a Dana 60 set up with a Ruff Stuff 3 link kit you could be hell of a lot closer to 5-6 grand all in before installation! I wanted something different with a little less weight. I paid a pretty penny to do so. RockSolidToys gave me a good deal and working for a shop I could also get better pricing on some items. I will probably be somewhere in the 8-9k range by the time I get to a Marlin Crawler doubler set up and front/rear Tom Woods shafts. Looking like the summer of 2021 with the wait times and our current economic situation.

What kind of suspension kit are you referring to? 3 link front, if so, that's average unless you buy from alltrailgearpro, where everything is on the shelf or so it seem.

Talking labor. Yes know how much things cost as I’m building a 4runner right now. And without labor I’m over 14k

You could probibly piece a kit together using barnes 4wd and ruffstuff and a local steel supplier for the tube quicker and cheaper than rock solid toys. Download the 3link calculator and start measureing!!

And then have to use math/brain anyway after spending that money when you have to modify it to fit.
