I have heard really good things about the Wrangler Duratracs.

What kind of off roading do you do? For street use, the stockers should be fine. Also, Duratracs for street use, they do pretty good in snow. But you're in CO, which means rocks...sharp ones. If you off road in that, I'd steer clear from Duratracs. Had 'em, liked a lot about them, but weak sidewalls (and secondary to that, loud once they had some miles on them) did them in for me.

I'm now on StMaxx's, but no personal experience with them in snow / ice yet (they do accept studs, however). But on wet roads, and off road, and for toughness, they are the shit for a moderately aggressive tire. They do not as "E" rated tires however, ride like stock tires if that's a major concern. They keep making them, it's the last tire I'll buy. But again, no experience in snow / ice yet, so take that for what it's worth. Others can hopefully chime in on snow performance.

Living in Colorado and driving without dedicated winter tires for the winter season isn't the safest for you, your family, your friends, and the others on the roads.

Look at it another way, run the best tires for the winter and run the best tires for the summer. Neither are any good in the other season.

Thank you! It’s quite the upgrade from the Colorado. Should’ve ponied up sooner for it.

Awesome. Thanks for the suggestion. I actually moved to Colorado in September, so I haven’t been doing any off-roading yet. I was planning on trying to do some this summer when there isn’t any ice or snow around. I figured that’d be the best time to learn. So for now, it’s just a pavement princess until summer/hunting season.

I bought my Tacoma 2-28-17 and ran the stock Wranglers until 11-2017 and then put Toyo Observe GSi winters on. The Wranglers are not that good for winter driving, opinion based on driving on 4 winter tires on different vehicles for winters since '90.

Whatever you do don’t buy wider than stock tires if snow traction is your main concern. I’ve read Duratacks aren’t great in snow but my friend has them on his Wrangler and they work so well he hasn’t even used 4wd in Chicago blizzards since he got them. I was shocked at how well they worked.

Been through a few tires: Duratracs, Open Country ATIIs, KO2s, Wildpeaks, and I feel like I'm forgetting another one. Wildpeaks have been awesome, but for the next go-round, I'll be going back to KO2s. Snow performance just can't be beat, and that's really important to me. You can't go wrong with Wildpeaks though.

If your looking for a less aggressive AT tire, I’ve been pretty impressed with my Cooper AT3-4S tires this winter. Great snow & rain traction!!
