you enjoying the nice unseasonably warm weather?

    my ramps might help
my dad built them to handle a mid-70s Ford Van that was pretty big

It would be nice if it wasn’t for the 20 mph wind and rain

POR-15 video vs some other products, including eastwood
POR-15 is JUNK from this video (4th bad review in six months i have found on the product)
and its good to know that the internal frame coating is going to come out hard and thick from the spray can

@GQ7227 , cool video, but if you read the POR instructions, I think it states that it can't be exposed to direct sunlight. It must be top coated with paint if exposed to direct sunlight. I'm very impressed with the Ace Hardware stuff, will definitely pick up a few cans of that. I'm also going to try some of the Eastwood internal frame coating. I'll be busy next spring and summer. Thanks again for doing this.

    i have barely just begun!
the eastwood rust incapsulator stuff is similar to POR-15 (i think) but does not require a topcoat (i think) as its already built into the formula :notsure:

i would like to perform my own 'tests' from a junked taco frame piece from the salvage lot and do the tests with the heavy road chemicals directly applied

@GQ7227 , Well I for one, am limited on the amount of funds, that I can spend on this. So by you doing all the legwork, and testing for me, I'll know which products work best, and save some money at the same time. "Your a regular good man", which I believe was a quote from Mickey Rooney in one of his last movies.

i am figuring it will be best to get a sifter to re-use the glass bead blasting media
somewhere i estimated how much of the stuff it will take me to clean all this up
i think it was about 500 pounds or 10 boxes @ 50 pounds each
after sifting should provide some decent savings

if you have any pointers i can use please feel free to post em up
i am still baffled about the interior of the frame and what is going on inside of it
    what to do
    what to do

@GQ7227 , I've done a lot of research and reading, and the eastwood internal frame spray looks really promising. but I'm also wondering if the Ace Hardware Rust Stop, could be sprayed inside the frame with one of the Eastwood long spray nozzle hoses that you can purchase. I'll keep watching this thread for updates. Keep up the good work. How thick was the Ace hardware product compared to the Eastwood internal frame spray. I'm wondering if the Ace product would be too thick to spray through the 360 degree nozzle from eastwood.

i have not tested the 360 degree nozzle yet, hopefully when paint hits it it will become erect to jam it in there and slide it on out.
basically its the same type of little hose you get to use with FF
if it stays limpy it will need modded, perhaps taped to a metal clothes hanger?

new-to-me product found to research if it will be the right tool to do the job right and thorough as possible
interested in the gel inside frame
any helpful tips if you have tried this product or not?
    https://www.eastwood.com/rust-remover-eastwood-rust-dissolver.html

    DETAILS
Eastwood Rust Dissolver removes only the rust, and won't eat-away at the metal itself. Leaves the newly de-rusted metal ready to paint, plate or powder-coat.

    • Gentle enough for engine parts
    • Reusable
    • Removes about 5 sq. ft. of rust per quart
Liquid rust Dissolver works as long as the surface is wet. Items that cannot be fully immersed due to size can be placed in the discharge stream of a commonly available small pump. One gallon de-rusts about 20 square feet of metal.

This product is not safe to use on aluminum.

Leaves de-rusted metal ready to paint or powder-coat; liquid or gel

have you called up Eastwood and asked them to send you one of everything they've got? At the rate you are going, might as well just have them drop the semi trailer in front of your house.

de-icing chemical roadspray from this past week sitting on the 2 coats of primer i finished a couple months ago on rear driver area
was not able to topcoat it yet
that is not snow in my treads either, the snow was half an inch or so and streets were dry other than the white salty haze spread all over the roads

i will need to refinish the undercoating under my floorpan and the bed, probably wheel wells too
perhaps this is a good solution :notsure: not sure if there are rusty parts or not, have only noticed some chipping and peeling in spots due to age its brittle ... plus the parts the abrasive blast media ricocheted and stripped off to bare metal

    https://www.eastwood.com/eastwood-rubberized-rust-encapsulator-undercoating-black.html

    DETAILS
"Rubberized" Rust Encapsulator stays flexible as it stops rust in its tracks.

    • Flexible finish protects surfaces from abrasions, and deadens sound
    • Epoxy-fortified for better adhesion and durability
    • Withstands up to 250°F
    • One aerosol covers about 10 square feet
Eastwood's Rubberized Rust Encapsulator is the flexible version of our high-performance Rust Encapsulator coating that applies directly over rust or bare metal to provide long-term corrosion protection.

Unlike off-the-shelf under coatings, Rubberized Rust Encapsulator can be applied directly over rust and without the “bubbling” that creates air pockets thus trapping rust. Since its engineered with high-tech flex agents, its pliable finish protects surfaces from abrasions, road hazards and deadens sound. So durable it exceeded 1,000 hours of salt spray chamber testing, this surpasses the standards for a 2-component catalyzed coating! Simply apply directly over rust or bare metal; no need to topcoat. Remains flexible and durable. Satin black finish.

    APPLICATION
Use a wire brush to remove loose rust, scale and paint, and remove dust, grease and oil deposits. Feather surrounding paint with 220-grit sandpaper. Shake can for at least 2 minutes once the mixing ball starts to rattle. Hold the Rubberized Rust Encapsulator can 10"-12" above surface as you spray. A single coat dries to the touch in 20 minutes, and is thoroughly dry in 3-4 hours at 68°F. For greater durability, a second coat can be applied 1 hour after the first. Allow 6-8 hours after the last coat before applying topcoat (no need to topcoat, unless desired). Quart may be brushed on or applied with an undercoating gun (like our 20441 Undercoating Gun Kit).
