Luke Thomas just interviewed Joshua Fabia (Diego Sanchez's "trainer/coach")...that was a strange interview. I will try to find a like for it later.

Man now I want to hear this interview. Diego was always an odd character to me. So I can see him pairing up with an odd coach

I don't know why the new rule regarding kneeing a downed opponent is so confusing to fighters.
Old rules "If the fighter is standing but has one hand on the mat he or she was considered a downed opponent".
We all remember fighters switching their hands back and forth and it was nearly impossible for the dominant fighter or referee to know which hand was or wasn't touching the mat.
New rule "while standing, a fighter must have both hands touching the mat to be considered a downed opponent, not just one"
The rules regarding one knee touching the mat hasn't changed, old and new rules "Once a fighter has one knee on the mat he or she is considered a downed opponent".
There has never been a UFC rule where you could knee or kick a fighter to the face or head while they're sitting on their ass, although you can knee them to the body.
In Pride you could kick or stomp a downed opponent, and maybe in the very early years of UFC,
but if the rule about having one knee down hasn't changed lately, then why are fighters so confused ? I don't get it.

Should I be concerned if I feel like I completely understood what he was talking about ?
It took him 46 minutes to say that he's never claimed to be an MMA coach, and Diego fighting at a weight closer to his natural weight is way healthier for the long run.
    Which I completely agree with.

oh man I had that interview on in the background this morning while I was showering. Honestly i'm kinda over alot of the interviews that Luke Thomas does lately. I've met him in person in Vegas before Stipe-D.C. 1 and it was fine and all, took a pic, but I'm honestly kinda over the guy (he truly does come across as a pompous douche) and really appreciate when Jimmy Smith fills in. But man does Diego have a team behind him Yall! got that ENERGY!
anyone talkin about the Felder -Dan Hooker Matchup this weekend ? Who yall got in that one? but more importantly it's WILDER-FURY 2 weekend !!!!:benchpress::argue::spending::cheers:

That guy is a total con artist. Every question he answered was diverted back to his same scam talk. Diego didn't even fight back in his last 2 fights and looked terrible. This guy's claiming Diego looks better then ever.

We thought Rondas old coach was bad but this might be next level.

I guess to me I was expecting something out of the ordinary in terms of what was done. I’m all for the spiritual and hippy Vibe stuff because I dig it. Not so sure if I can translate that to fighting though . Maybe that’s just me.

Joshua Fabia, head coach for UFC welterweight Diego Sanchez, apparently almost got Sanchez’s bout with Michael Chiesa cancelled after warning that the ‘Nightmare’ knew techniques that could kill his opponent.

What about Diegos coach using a knife to help Diegos striking defense? Straight out of dodge balls "if you can dodge a wrench, you can dodge a ball" haha

    Like, so many.
Eryk Anders and Walt Harris both fight out of my gym and they are on the same card for their next bouts, so that's really cool. They were campaigning for a card in Birmingham which would have been awesome. The UFC hasn't been here in a loooooong time.

I forgot about the cornerman part.. Fabia basically said you don't need to tell a fighter what needs to be adjusted during the fight because if the fighter was trained properly he'd already know what to do....... Then on the other hand, Fabia said he was there to keep Diego breathing properly. Wouldn't Diego already know how to do that under such a great guru?

Let's not forget about the equivalent to Mayweather defense and Conor McGregor movement we all saw with Diego.

And the cherry on top was Fabia actually took Conor McGregors call out serious.

Luke Thomas definitely comes across as a douche. I remember when he tried to ask Jon Jones a question at the UFC 214 post-fight press conference and Jon straight up snubbed him.

Luke said, "You’re 30 now, so I’m wondering as you turned 30, I guess on the 19th of July, what would you say about your 20s? Was it good, was it bad, was it somewhere in between, how would you look back on that decade?”

Jon replied, "I don't really like you, Luke, so I'm not going to answer your questions."

    lol

Fabia clearly has a few screws loose, but I think meditation and breathing techniques could be very useful to any fighter.
I don't do any type of martial arts, and I never go to the gym but I've been surfing most of my life and I'll charge some very heavy waves.
I've been in some gnarly situations that would terrify the average person but because of my experience I know what to do and what not to do in those situations, especially not to panic.
It's not always about being physically fit because an olympic swimmer in a pool could easily panic and drown in the ocean.
I hear Nick Diaz has swam from Alcatraz five separate times, now that's some serious physical and mental endurance..

Hard to tell with that huge ticket pop up covering part of the ring. At the UFC event I went to a few weeks ago, the commentators were sitting near the dollar sign and #1 in the pop up. Fighters walked into the arena in between sections 105 & 103. They exited out of the door that is near the top right of the octogon, and then left the area in between sctions 108 & 110. The Zuffa mat was located on the left side of the octagon near the north floor. UFC fighters in attendance sat right in front of section 101.
