Hi everyone. Trying to figure out the right move here and could use some advice.

Deciding between a 2015 TRD Sport 4WD w/ 37k miles for 28k or biting the bullet and going for a brand new one for upwards of 40k (after taxes and fees).

I can afford either but I would be much more comfortable with the payment on the 2015. Also, is the the 2015 going to be a better driving experience with the transmission "issues" on the 3rd gen?

Final question. The 2015 lived some of its life in the northeast. I am bit concerned with rust. I inspected the frame and noticed what looked to be surface rust on some of the components and a little on the frame. How much rust is acceptable?

I would prefer the 2015 because it would leave with me more money to build it up and 37k miles is nothing. However, is the price decent? Will the newer model be a better purchase in the long run? Need some advice from the seasoned taco vets. Thanks in advance.

Go with the 2015! I've had my 2010 since new, and it did not require a frame replacement (just the rustproofing back in October 2017). Check the frame extensively, and if you do have problems with the frame down the road I do believe that Toyota is still honoring the recall on 2nd Gens...?

Welcome to TW, by the way! :hattip:

For a 12K difference, I'd go for the '15. If the truck is pretty clean and rust is just surface, it can be treated. 37K is nothing for these trucks.
