No sure how yours is attached, but his was a single-point aftermarket carrier. Still, that is a lot of moments working on flimsy sheetmetal that far back in the bed.

hey, looking at this issue presently, has anyone who did the exhaust pipe chop noticed exhaust gasses seeping into bed area? i realize generally speaking there will be no one back there, but i have a topper on mine and i would not want exhaust gasses constantly seeping in to make all my gear smell like ...exhaust. anyone out there that can comment on this?

I have a shell on mine and have 0 issues. Occasionally I get dust back there, but nothing ever smells like exhaust, even when idling.

 

I have a shell with the exhaust chop. I sleep in the bed often when camping and have noticed no smell
