Hi everybody, i have very very technical question..
a friend of mine who has a low milleage OME 884 spring (for hilux/2nd gen taco) he offered it to me and its some kind a gift for me.. i do a lot of research and i can't find anything about, but i found that 882 and 883 (not made it for this model) can be used on our first gen tacos..
so the thing is, the 884's fits 1st gen taco?..
here are some facts/tech data for analysis:
884 (390mm) is 5mm lower than 882 (395mm), but OME 884 have a higher compression rate (590) than OME 882(500) and the same compression rate of the 883(590).
884 have the same number of turns and same Bar diameter of the 883.

My truck is a 98 4cyl, with a bumper (not oem/stock) and 9000lb warn winch, my idea is to install and ARB bumper with the winch.

i also attached the picture of the OME catalog springs info.

It will physically fit, but you'll get way too much lift and a shitty ride.

    Stick with 882s or 883s.

Even 883’s might be too much for a 4 banger

can O’ worms buddy. Some questions...
How much lift do you want?
What size tires do you want?
How will you use this truck?
is it 4x4? ( 4x2 can get away with a touch more lift due to the absence of CV axles and front differential)

If you go a full 3” on a 4x4, you get to do a whole bunch of other stuff, like hi angle CV boots, Diff drop bracket, aftermarket UCA’s. More work and coin, but it’s easier to find the truck ina crowded mall parking lot..

Just read a lot, find people with similar trucks, and see what has worked for them. Welcome to the rabbit hole!!!

I think the 882 is what you seek. For 4 bangers, add a half inch to whatever OME says on their site.

For instance, an 880 is a 1.5" lift coil on a stock V6 taco. On my 2.7L taco I got just under 2". With a bumper and winch Id likely see that 1.5" they listed.

Just because it's free, doesn't mean it's a good deal.
