Mine was done several months ago and they said they will inspect it again when I get my oil changed. Drive in Northeast. I did get a free wash, and muffin & coffee out of the first inspection!

Frame envy. Mine's pretty comparable to yours though.

What cleaner/protector do you use twice a year to keep it looking like that in the salt country of PA(FF?)?

You should probably just crush it, that truck is just scrap. I'll take it off your hands for 1.5x the value of scrap.

I am also curious as to what product(s) you use and how you use them because that is seriously impressive.

I use Chemical Guys UnderCarriage Cleaner/Protector but it wears off rather quickly (2-3 months). I did use FF on the inside frame for the first time a few months ago and it’s lasting a lot longer. I’ll probably continue to use a combination of both.

When the truck gets salty I’m very proactive about getting the underneath washed down ASAP.

My 06 frame got sprayed at the dealership last year and I hated it. It never fully dried, even a year later, it was basically like a coating of tar all over the frame and around it on body / components. Made me very angry. Sold it recently and got an 05 that had the frame replaced. I would take precautions to prevent rust rather than have to deal with that nasty tar coating later.

The Crc is a thing of the past and will no longer be used for our beloved tacos. There is a new spray routine for the 12-17's that isnt an entire frame coating of tar like the last one. This one remains wet and pliable and looks like elmers glue. The spray consist of the entire boxed section from front frame horns all the way back to the cab mounts (and it fills it up GOOD), inside the cab mounts, and down almost half of the open frame section on major seams.

I asked the service manager at my dealership about the new spray/technique and he looked at me like I was crazy. He told me it’s the same method they were doing on the older trucks. I can’t see different dealerships using different methods, can you?

No its pushed to every dealership, service manager is just not updated yet. Theres a special emodule and training that a field service tech has to walk you through, then the dealer gets this 30,000 dollar machine and these custom made different length wands that cost 3 grand a piece and you gotta know how to use them properly. Toyota is going much more in depth with this campaign.

The above is a very similar story to what the Toyota service manager told me a few weeks ago when I booked mine. Guess I'll know in a week or so.

I gotta say, wouldn't it make more sense to just make better frames than all that?

Please keep us posted. I got my letter in the mail yesterday. Fluid Film has my frame and underbody looking pretty new so I'm not even interested in the old CRC. Curious about the new method, though.

Though i agree, i have no info in regards to that. Whatever metal they use should be changed for any trucks shipped to the salt belt because we get eaten alive up here.

The new stuff is very similar to fluid film actually. Ive only played with it during training once, the official sprays havent started for us yet but we sure do have a shit ton of trucks thats passed the corrosion inspection ready spraying.

Is there any concern having it inspected with bolt on sliders installed? I sprayed my frame with Amsoil HD Metal Protect which is basically a cosmoline was. Looks great but I’d like to not have the dealer tell me the service campaign doesn’t apply due to the sliders...

those will be fine, the new spray is on the inside of the frame boxed section not outside.

I, too, received a notice that the campaign will be extended to my model year. The letter said I have two years from date of notice to get it inspected and crc sprayed to qualify for the extension of frame warranty. The letter said I would be notified when the campaign is actually available. Have you folks received a second letter or simply called up a local dealer to check in?

Also, MurderedTacoV2, how long ago did this training for new spraying come through? Sounds like a positive change.
