    Just a quick introduction, and not sure why I hadn't found these forums before! In 2003 I purchased a 2001 Tacoma, 4WD, Extended Cab with about 13k miles. Just had the transmission go out with over 210k miles. It served me well and was in great shape, other than the "catastrophic" transmission failure. Loved that truck, and swore when the time came, I wouldn't buy anything other than a Tacoma.

    Anyway, just purchased a 2018 with 24k miles, and am loving it. Getting used to all the bells and whistles that I didn't have on my '01, and that's a good thing. When your 12 year old nephew asks "what's this?" referring to the window crank on the old truck, it makes you feel like you're in the dark ages.

    Hopefully you don’t have an electric issues, the new trucks are a completely different ball game then the 1st gen and the electrical part is the weak point if something goes wrong.
    Hope you got a good warranty, if not get one!

    My brothers newer tacoma had a catastrophic electrical crash at 70,000 miles and Toyota was at 4000.00 worth of repairs and still couldn’t get it running. So he sold it.
    Get a good warranty that will cover the electrical section

    Thansk! Yep, definitely got the extended warranty through 2026 or 100k...our other vehicle is a 2019 CRV, and with all the electrical and computer stuff, would never be without a decent warranty. Those failures add up fast.
