32BF4351-6B3D-4FE7-BB95-2ABAA9010BBD.jpg A picture of my haul today from shed hunting. I’ve gone maybe four times over the years and never found anything. Pretty sure the bucks in my area keep their horns year round.:anonymous:

That’s what I was thinking today. I probably got a better chance of finding one walking to my tree stand.

Alright, new to archery but not new to hunting. Made my first trip out to Colorado last year for an elk hunt and got the itch. I now have the opportunity to go to Montana this year to elk hunt in the rut but it has to be with a bow. I have plenty of hunting experience as well as years of backpacking and backcountry experience so im covered on that end.

My question is, if I am going to do this I need to purchase a full setup and start practicing asap to get my muscle memory and accuracy to a point where I can make an ethical shot, should one present itself. I need recommendations on bows. Assuming all goes well, it will continue to be used for elk annually and ill likely end up bow hunting on my land in Texas as well.

Being up front and honest, I cant shell out $1500-$2k on a bow. I would like to keep the full setup around the $1k mark if possible. Aaaaand go!
