2020 SR5 DRL question

I have a 2020 SR5 and I cannot figure out what the DRL knob on my light knob does. If I turn to DRL and get out and walk around the truck none of the lights are on. Do they only illuminate when the truck is in gear?

The parking lights turn on if I turn them up to the next option on the knob. (amber inner lights) and My head lights turn on when I turn the knob all the way up.

I changed my bulbs on the high beams/head and fogs lamps to leds but left the ambers as stock. I was under the idea that the DRL’s were the amber lights. At the moment I’m not seeing any blown fuses etc.

Do the DRL’s only illuminate when the truck is moving or am I missing something?

My drls only turn on when I release the parking brake for the first time after start-up

Parking brake on? If so try with the parking brake off.
