    Hey all,

I'm new here. Last Saturday (11/09) I purchased a brand new 2020 Tacoma OR which included the Premium Audio Package. Sadly, yesterday I noticed static and crackle coming from the driver dash speaker. Today, I turned on the vehicle only to hear even louder pops and crackles from the stereo - I couldn't make out anything that was playing through the speakers because of the shrewd noises coming out of the speakers. I called my local Toyota dealer (not who I purchased from) and made an apt for a warranty repair - what should I expect? Any indications on what the problem is? Any help is appreciated.

Took it to the dealer today (Longo in so cal) and they told me that it might be the “aftermarket alarm system” that was installed in my vehicle at the lot (this alarm system was not disclosed to me and I am told every dealer installs some alarm system for security).

I am then told that if they find that the alarm system caused the issue then it does not fall under warranty and I will have to pay out of pocket!

I then call the dealership I purchased from (Ventura) and they assure me that the alarm system is unobtrusive to the stereo and that they will reimburse me if Longo finds that the alarm caused the issue.

I spoke with the service manager at Longo and he agreed to cover half of the cost of the tech finds the repair to be outside warranty.

!!!!!!!!!!!! this vehicle is less than a week out of the lot.

    UPDATE

So the service tech determined there was an open circuit in the amplifier. They put in an order for one in November '19. The part finally arrived this week (1/7/20) after being backorder (date was pushed back three times - I am told it was difficult to get the part because it was early in to model year production).

They replaced the part - 86280-04080 (Amplifier) and all works as it should now. Under warranty, thankfully - that part sells for +$1,600 if you buy it through the dealership.

Dam!! 1600 bucks!!! Lol I spent $1,100 installing one of the best sound systems I could put together to replace the paper crap they threw in my 2020 Tacoma.
And they are saying that Just the amp in that piece of crap system cost $1,600 . I love tacos but they're sound systems have always sucked,I on my third one and have had to replace every single one right off the lot.

OEM. You know how it goes. Thankfully, not a single cent came out of my pocket for the part and labor AND they paid a month of my $600+ car payment.
