I just got mine back a few minutes ago. They sprayed CRC inside the frame rails and nothing on the outer frame rails. They also installed a few plugs. Except for where it pooled on the flat areas it doesn't look like they did much of anything. The bees wax comment earlier is a good way to describe what they put on it. I found a wet area and put my finger in it. It is chalky looking and feels like bees wax when you rub it between your fingers. I have my doubts this will do anything to stop the rust.
They treat our roads with a blue chemical they mix with salt or just spray it directly on the roads. Its nasty enough that it corrodes aluminum. You see the bottom of a lot of cars gone since they started using this stuff 5 or 6 years ago.
Ive pretty much decided not to waste my money anymore buying new cars or trucks. Im 60 and will drive what I got as long as I can. I have a old car that I restored and show that I am thinking I will sell to buy another much older SUV or truck to restore as a daily driver when the newer ones are shot. I got time to do this thank goodness. I have to wonder what the younger guys are going to do? When is enough enough on new car prices and then you get a $45000 truck that is going to rust apart in 10-12 years. That is not money well spent. It doesn't make sense to me anymore.

yep. Decent stuff. What nobody tells you is that crc uses the jankiest caps/nozzles and no matter what you do you smell it on you for a week.

Not to split hairs, but it's technically not a recall. Some folks on here were confused about this when they searched recalls, and the frame "campaign" could not be found. It's customer optional where if not applied, Toyota will not honor a frame warranty.

How long will it take for Toyota to get their shit together? How much has this frame BS cost since 2005. Not to mention the old rotted 4Runners, Sequoias and others.

I just got called yesterday by my dealer. I, too, am wondering when is Toyota going to get their act together on frame rot?

She did call it a "recall notice". She said they didn't have parts yet, but wanted to know if I wanted to be put on their list of people who wanted to know when the parts come in so that we could schedule an appointment. I told her to add me to the list.

I had a 2010 for a while. I currently have a 2013. The 2010 had 60k+ miles on it when it hit a patch of ice in a snow storm, slid through a T intersection and rolled down a ravine (no injuries). It was replaced by the 2013, which now has 100k on the clock. Neither of them caused me a lick of trouble aside from regular preventative maintenance. Considering the problems I've had with products from GM, Ford and Chrysler (the list of cars and SUVs is long, the list of issues is much, much longer), I'm willing to let the frame issue slide as long as Toyota makes good on it.

But I do have to wonder what the brilliant minds at Toyota are thinking since they've only been dealing with the frame rot issue since 2001.

My '89 Toyota pickup frame broke in half (passenger side, in front of the leaf hanger) as I was driving away from the gas station after filling it up.

I think they’ve been dealing with frame rot since 1985!

All vehicle manufactures have been dealing with rot as long as states have been clearing roads with salt and especially calcium chloride brine. Wish people would stop thinking its just Toyota trucks...

True, however some are clearly worse than others. Toyota trucks have never had a reputation for holding up against rust.

that’s because most cars have long become garbage for other reasons before frame rot became an issue.

Almost all of my and my family's vehicles have been purchased used and seen over ten years of service (most recently, the Saturn died after over 18 years and over 200,000 miles on the dial). Despite myriads of other issues, frame rot never came close to being an issue for any one of them (except for the Chrysler that had the shock mounts rust off the frame, which apparently was quite common for that model). I'm in Minnesota. Granted, there have been myriads of other issues, most of them expensive, so it did cost us a pretty penny to keep them on the road that long.

Had mine done last week. Inspection found mine was already protected from factory. Apparently they installed some frame plugs. I haven’t crawled underneath to look yet, the weather has been wet/cold. I do all my own service and never noticed any abnormal corrosion. Fingers crossed.

am Pro grille w/lights, black tailgate letters, black badging, 265-70-17 Duratrac "c", Rear seat platform,
I sold my 2002 Chevy Avalanche because the frame rusted all the way through on the right side under the rear passenger door. You could step on the running board and it would just bend until you slid off. lol There is a reason states in the upper mid-west are called the "rust belt". It's definitely not just Toyotas that have had the rusting problems. The more they treat your roads with salt or chemicals the more you're going to have to deal with rust no matter which state you live in.

Inspection done and passed. Scheduled for coating down the road.

Im told... "the lawyers" analysed the situation and given the small market affected by salt/rust issues determined the global portion unaffected resulted in "no fault found" !

I still have to believe the residual "black eye" left on Toyota's reputation for quality and reliability would have Trumped that.....Lawyers :fingerscrossed:

same for me, got the letter but 'no open recalls' on my VIN

although, not technically a recall, the dealers are referring to it as such
