    @Rhino8541 @Dudeman86

    Sorry to hear it. I had rain on Saturday and wind all day Sunday, plus I had a coyote start barking at me on sunday so that definitely scared off any game in the area. Fucker trotted off when I finally located it and reached for my rifle. Ive never even heard of a coyote doing that before. I'm thinking either it was a bitch who was trying to draw my attention so her pups could escape, or it smelled the jerky I was eating and was trying to scare me off the "kill."

    I think pretty much any unit in the southern half of the state is likely to have a good javelina population. The trick is finding them when you need to. They're small, sometimes you can barely see their backs above the grass. And they're gray so unless they're moving when you glass them they tend to look like a dead log or maybe just a shadow in the grass or rocks.

    I got him with a rifle, could have shot him with a bow though. He was only about 40 yds away.

    Yup. Put in for 27 bull and 8 cow. Fingers crossed we got 27. Anyone know how long it takes before it shows up on the AZGFD portal?

    How common is it to get a tag for pronghorn?

    It depends on what Unit you are hunting them in but I would say 10-20 years. So, not very often.

    No, pronghorn is a difficult tag to get especially in the good units. I have 8 bonus points and hopefully will get a tag while I am young enough to still do it. AZ Game and Fish posts all the odds etc for each unit and hunt. When applying for a tag you can see how many tags they issue. Each species and unit is different

    My card hasn't been hit yet. But I got drawn for elk last year and only have two points for pronghorn so I wasnt holding my breath. Who knows though. Could be one of the late hits.
